Hey all - haven't been around much at all lately I know. Life has been really busy, but I have been keeping to my running and eating right. I haven't been dropping weight, but have been holding steady.

Now, to the subject matter. I have fallen.... I actually fell during my last 5k race, this past Saturday. I won't go into all of it here since I have already typed it all up once.... and just can't bring myself to type it all again.... with one hand.

Read it all here >> blog.262quest.com/2008/06/down-for-count.html

Tim, so sorry about the fall! That's a big bummer! Man, broken collar bone is tough. I hope you have a quick recovery.

I could offer so many Rocky quotes to you right now, but really I just want to say. I'm glad to be in your company on Traineo and as a good runner (that you are). It is a relief you didn't injure your legs in the accident, and I look forward to sharing the track (on a sort of global scale) again with you soon.

Ouch Tim. Well, if you can't run the Peachtree, definitely walk it, and beat your PR next time!

Yea, that is my plan right now. I will be one of very few with a time-group 1A and a chip that is actually walking. I will be able to see and experience the race in ways I wouldn't be able to otherwise.

Hey Tim,

That's too bad about the fall, especially with the next race coming up. Hope you recover quickly and can get back out there. But don't push to hard, better to recover completely and take some extra time then get out there to soon and be re-injured.

Look on the bright side: at least it's a collar bone and not a hip!

Oh wow Tim!! I'm sorry to hear you are going to have to have surgery, but it's better to let it heal properly. Good luck!

Holy Jebus, that looks painful. From what you described I figured it was just a crack, not a clean break.

Hey Tim, I'm glad the surgery went well. And it's good to take time off (work and working out) to recover. I hope you feel better soon!

So what did they do? Pin it or just go in and put it in alignment? Glad it went well, and I hope you stay comfortable!

They had to put a pretty long pin in since it was snapped in two. (or three - according to what my wife said the emergency room dr said) No airport travel for me without complications for the next 3-6 months.

My dad had his hips replaced, and now he can never go through the metal detectors. He hates it! At least you get to take the pin out, right?

yea, they said 3-6 months it could come out, or I could leave it in there if I wanted to. I say - take it out!

Take it out - it will cause you more problems than it's worth. Heat and cold affect it and you'll have weird aches and pains because of it.

I have a dog that broke her leg and we put a plate on it so it would heal straight. She had chronic problems (pain, infection) until we took it out. As soon as we did the very next day she was a new dog! Jumping around like a puppy! Which was NOT a good thing because the empty screw holes made her bone into swiss cheese, but it all worked out in the end.

Anyway, I'm not saying that you're a dog , but I'm convinced from that experience that metal in the body is NO GOOD!
