I'm the one on the left. This is about the only one I can stand to look at for more than a second. What made this photo opportunity even more spectacular is the fact that I got sunburned the day before and had a very nice farmer tan going (which I covered with makeup as much as possible). The groom is 6'4", and the other bridesmaid about 5'0". I split the difference between them, haha.
For reference, in the pic I am 5'8", about 183 lbs, somewhere between 33-36% body fat (depending on the calculator). The dress is a size 14 that was taken up about 2" in the torso. Thank God I managed to lose about 20 lbs. The Maid of Honor is about 5'0", 150 lbs, also in a highly altered size 14 (probably could have been wearing a 12 easily). We were both working on losing weight for this damned wedding!
[Rant] Why oh why does everyone want to take a 3/4 front/side view pic of you? If you have curves they do NOT show up, and you look like a waist-less fatty. Probably the only reason I like this pic so much better than the others I looked through is because it was the only one with a more frontal view. In the 3/4 view pics I look like I have no figure at all. [End Rant]

I'm basically trying to get in shape and be healthy...
diaryofthefatman.blogspot.com
I like participating in sports but I want to be more competitive. Also I'm with Kevin Spacey from American Beauty - good reason :)
I'm looking to lose about a hundred lbs in the course of a year, and basically to just consistently get better. And I love comments and messages, so keep 'em coming!
I talk about goal setting a lot, how about I actually set some?
Well it's time to revisit goals... I didn't do too well with my end of year plans, but learned some things and changed my plans up a bit as I went along. During the 5-7 weeks of the year, I was able to put on about 8-10lbs of muscle, and stay at the same actual weight. The plan is to start the Strong Lifts 5X5 program to supplement the Couch to 5K program, and that should last the next 8-12 weeks.
I'm updating goals as well. Lowering cholesterol remains a goal, and I'll find out about that at the end of August.
Been bouncing around a bit, but getting a little stricter again and will monitor that over the next 3-4 weeks. I feel poised to really lose some weight again, so I'm looking forward to the healthy eating and additional exercise.

Don't be so hard on yourself, you look great. I'm sure you look fine in the other pics, too.
That is a funny observation about the angled front/side views though .

Yeah, unfortunately the ones where I am smiling look stupid to me, hahaha. I look totally fake. Plus I look about 50 lbs heavier because of the damned 3/4 view pose they always put me in. I'm sure in the professional version of this pic (the person we're looking at) I will look like a fat cow. This one isn't sooo bad though.

Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they haev to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary.
Impossible is NOTHING.

Yeah, I hate it when my curves don't show up in pictures...
You look great, and think about how far you've come! Besides, we're always our own worst critics (unless you have a family like mine... I think it's pretty hard to beat their criticisms).

The problem with the 3/4 view is that the curve of your waist isn't visible. What you are left seeing is the fat side of your hip and boob! So, when your best asset is not visible (waist), and your gargantuan hips and boobs ARE, the end result is a picture that makes you look like a shapeless fatty. Another annoying thing in wedding pictures is that darned bouquet, which they want you to hold at your waist (and again hiding an asset, since these gowns do a terrific job of cinching it up and giving you an hourglass figure!) I'm not saying I don't like this pic; I'm just ranting that this is the only picture that was taken that shows a more frontal view, and all the others are 3/4 views.
Seriously, both me and the other bridesmaid are wearing the same size dress. She is in a 3/4 view, and I am not. THAT is what I'm trying to describe! Damn photographers, hahaha.

so you are saying you dont like the pic? i dont think a dress/angle/flowers can hide that much!? i think you look great but the bottomline is if you arent happy with yourself than that is what is most important. 2 people can wear the same size and weigh the same amt or diff amt or be diff heights and/or weights. it really doesnt matter what size you are (you could be 3 different sizes if you get your clothes at 3 different stores) or what the scale says (as we all know muscle weighs more than fat so you will be a smaller size at a heavier weight). it is what you are comfortable with and how you feel.

Quoting: fauxvirgo I'm not saying I don't like this pic
When I get my hands on some more pics, I'll post them.
Anyway, thanks for all your comments. No, I'm not comfortable with my weight; not by a long shot. I still have at least 30 more lbs to lose. This is the only picture I've had taken since I started losing weight. My mother in law took pics of me at Christmas that I can't stand looking at, and, yes I think I can tell a difference between now and then. But you guys haven't seen any recent pics of me, so here 'ya go!

Here's the lovely 3/4 view. Ugh. Granted, I'm not standing up as straight, but you get the picture anyway.

Ok, you're right. That picture doesn't do you justice .
I wouldn't fret over it too much, though. Keep up the good work and you'll reach your goal. Sure, it may be a bit later than you had hoped, but when you look back it really won't matter because you'll be where you want to be right now .

Don't think so, just standing up a little straighter. I had on some pretty restrictive undergarments, heh... breathing deeply was a bit of a challenge! There was NO WAY anything was hanging out, LOL.
