I am heavier now than I was when I was pregnant. This is due to a good life of large portions, alcohol but little exercise. I am in a cycle of bad habits which I am struggling to break, and need motivation to do this long term as I don't believe in diets. I want to change my eating habits long term so that I am healthier and the weight stays off.

I have been a proud member for 1 month and 6 days but I have had a bad weekend. This is my first slip since starting, so I am not being too hard on myself, but my hubby took my eldest camping on Saturday and I pigged out with my youngest on McDonalds, then pizza we have had egg and chips, chocolate cake and I have had lots of beer.
I am going to be gutted tomorrow when I weigh in but I suppose I will just have to try harder this week to be good. My Sister is one of my motivators, but I have not spoken to her recently, so I am just having a counciling session with you.
Thanks for listening.

Don't be too hard on yourself! There are plenty of people here who would love to say that they had gone a whole month and 6 days with only 1 screw up! I say be proud of yourself! Now go have an awesome healthy week!!

Thanks Rachael. I have lost 1.4kg in the month I have been doing this and I know I will have put that back on this weekend so I am angry with myself for undoing all my hard work, but then I have have had a lovely time with my youngest.
I am really unhappy with my weight and figure, but then when I look at myself I just think oh ***** it and go and get another beer.
2 steps forward and 3 steps back. I'll get there.

I am a slow runner, decent snowboarder, and aim for wiisports rookie of the year. I have strong legs, eastern european calves, and like to lift things my boyfriend thinks I can't. A busy and constantly changing schedule make it hard to get into and stay in a workout routine. I'm a crusader for medical scientific truth in nutrition and weight loss discussions and I heart fiber.

Mmmmm I had one of these weekends too involving a friend chicken sandwich with potato wedges, a steak dinner, and ice cream as a meal, plus tons of excellent beer. It appears to have cost me 3 lbs this morning. Off for a run I go. The only thing you can do is get back on, fast. And love it while it happens...

Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they haev to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary.
Impossible is NOTHING.
(I freakin LOVED that ad campaign)

Don't worry about a few bad meals, truth be told, I don't believe that any 'diet' can succeed if there's even a wagon to fall of off because falling off is inevitable. You aren't "cheating" or "sneaking" in a bad snack if you allow yourself one or two now and then. I let myself have a "bad" meal at least once a week and I've lost 67lbs and over 13% body fat since Christmas. It makes it easier to "stay on the wagon" if you know there's going to be rest stops... trust me, my party never completed the Oregon Trail at a greuling pace with no rest... if it wasn't the wagon axels breaking it was cholera or something else... (awesome game btw. PURE AWESOME)
I highly doubt you ate enough to negate over a month of progress, that would be pretty impressive since it would take a lot more than what you described to put that weight back on as fat. If anything, your weight will go up from water retention from the high sodium of your food. Water weight is NOT bad, if anything water weight fluctuating is a good thing because that shows your body is in good working condition since that's supposed to happen

Don't be so hard on yourself! I know what you mean about falling 'off the wagon' though - I intended to have one bad meal at the weekend which turned into 3 solid days of eating rubbish... oops
The important thing is to get back on the wagon today And I seriously doubt you actually put back on that 1.4 kg as stored fat - like Clifford said it is probably water retention... This is why weighing yourself can be so depressing - weight always fluctuates up and down and then you think you have undone all your good work, when really you haven't!!!

I'm in this club too!!!
Met up with some old uni pals on Sunday and had an 'old boys' game of rugby. To cut a long story short all of the old uni rugby players go back to the uni and show the current generation how it is done. Then in true rugby spirit we sit around afterwards and push our drinking skills to the limit with various extremely childish games.
Very messy, very fun and very bad for training. No regrets!!
Life is for living and I had a whale of a time. I'm certainly not keen to do it again this weekend though. Apart from the fact that we probably wouldn't be invited again for a while after setting fire to the kitchen, my liver needs a rest.

Yup, pigging out every once in a while is completely different than doing it too often, which is what has landed us in this predicament in the first place! Don't be too hard on yourself; just realize that you can't do this every day and expect to see positive results on the scale.

I'm a grad student. I am trying to lose about 20 lbs to ease my knee pain.
I do cardio/weights 4-5 times a week. I also bike 7-8 miles on my daily commute. I love to work out, but boy do I love food, too... :-)

A bad weekend is nothing!! You owe one to yourself once in a while. Of course you should keep a cap on how often it happens, but to beat yourself up for enjoying food is excessive. You have taste buds... Give them a treat once in a while! Relax!

Here I am playing some Journey on my air guitar.
I'm a 22 year old with lots of determination and discipline 6 months out of the year. Needless to say, I've fallen off the wagon again and it's about time to get back on.

The great part about falling off the wagon is that you can always get back on (unless you're playing Oregon Trail and you flip your wagon in the river).
In the scheme of life, one bad day is pretty small

Thanks for the motivation guys. I am truely back on the wagon. I have had a fab couple of days, with plenty of salads and water. I have done 20 mins of Trampolining and rowing machine this evening, and feel knackered but good.
Just wish I could afford Wii Fit LOL.
I play darts on a Thursday which hasn't helpped with the drinking and bar snacks, but I will now factor this into a "treat night".
I think I might have water retention as my belly is 37 inches, yet my bust is only 32. But then it could be beer belly. LOL.
Thanks again.

My dad has lived his entire life ( he is now 82, bikes, skiis, golfs, travels... just got married) with the "to hell with it" mantra for weekends. The rest of the week he is stellar- low cal, lots of exercise, etc.
Maybe the key is balance..... we are all living life to its fullest, which sometimes includes food and a party here and there.
