I'm reaching to be a runner. I enjoy running now that I have shoes that don't kill my legs. All I need is to watch my diet and wake up early to run, and I'm confident that my goals will be met soon.

I just ran my FIRST 5k yesterday. It was the IOA Corporate 5k. I haven't found my picture on the website, as there were 10,000 runners/walkers. My time was 38:02.
I posted on these forums back in January when I signed up, and I was very nervous about whether or not I was able to do it. You guys were all very supportive, and that drove me to run the entire 5k without stopping. I even lost 10 lbs in training for this event!
I never thought in a million years I would be able to do this. I was almost in tears of joy after I finished. I think this is the beginning of a very healthy new habit. Thank you to you all!

I'm at student, working to get a Masters in Computer Science. I like to read, write, run, climb, and swim. Although I haven't climbed much recently. I'm currently training for a half marathon on Aug. 17th.

Woohoo!!!! Awesome job Joe.
Now it's time to either work on improving your 5k time, or upping your distance to 10k. :P
Congratulations

Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they haev to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary.
Impossible is NOTHING.
(I freakin LOVED that ad campaign)

Congratulations, I have my first 5k ever tomorrow
I've always been a strong sprinter/short distance runner (5:24 mile in high school, ~7 minutes now) but I never tried pushing anything further than one mile until January when I started training for this... my logic was that if anyone was still chasing me after a mile, they deserve to catch me... now I'm going to make them chase a little longer!
Let's hope I survive tomorrow

One Year 19 Lbs lost.
For December 07 to December 08 the job is to lose another 17 lbs.
-- Coming up for nearly a year of Traineo. 22 lbs lost, 13 to go!
What a year! I want to thank Traineo and it's members, and my doctors and friends, and gym, and my walking and running training partner -- my dog -- who all have have been a big part of my recovery from a bad case of pneumonia last August, from high blood pressure in May and June, and support through herniated cervical discs in July August and the present.
Somehow, its been possible to keep the faith and keep going through the neck and arm pain, but even on some of those bad pain days, getting the exercise at the gym, on a C25K run, on a bike ride, or in the surf helps make it bearable.
A year ago -- at least sports-wise, for life is altogether another thing -- I was losing my sense of identity as a surfer and windsurfer, gaining a sense of identity as a cyclist, a runner, 9 months later reentering the surf, losing my ability to ride ... things came and went between hospital visits.
At times, all those things were stripped away -- and just to be able to walk down the block was an accomplishment. There were recoveries and sometimes just advil and bullish efforts.
It's good to be back in the surf and on the bike sometimes, neck/shoulder/arm pain notwithstanding.
My thoughts go out to all those Traineo members out there fighting their own health and spiritual battles...you know we are here in this small way.

Special moment, ... and I doubt that your memory of it will be blurry for a long time to come.
Love these photos of fellow traineo-ers accomplishing these hard fought goals.
Great stuff!

Great job!
I'll be running quite a few 5k's with XC season coming up (my first ever). Our distances start at 2 miles but work their way up to 3 (which is 5k, right?)
