The annual event of a NFL Draft party is coming this weekend. Myself and my wife get together with my brother-in-law/wife and do outdoor grilling. Any food ideas anyone can think of?

This year my wife is scrapbooking with her sister in law while the draft is on (She is a avid scrap booker and owns her own scrap booking business). I will most likely be doing a lot of Wii sports since my favorite team (Vikings) not having a first round pick this year.

Anyone else make this event a party? I know that normally people have just super bowl parties.

Here are some food ideas: lean turkey burgers, boca burgers, corn on the cob with I can't Believe it's butter. Maybe some marshmallows but not too many. And maybe a bowl of salad.
I am not really good at this... never had a BBQ of my own but here are some ideas...

You certainly are a glutton for punishment, aren't you?

Turkey burgers aren't a bad suggestion at all, but a lean hamburger isn't going to kill you either. Roast some anaheim peppers and dice them and mix them into some hamburger meat with diced onions and a bunch of ground flax seed (probably 1-2 tbsp per pound of meat, you won't even taste it and flax is loaded with good stuff for you).

On that note, adding ground flax seed to sauces and rubs is a great way to add some fiber and good omega fats to your food... it's pretty much a staple of my dry rubs now.

If you don't mind preparing the night before, here's a good recipe (modified slightly from the Abs Diet!) for chicken skewers:

1 lemon
1 lime
2 tbsp ground flax seed
1 8oz can tomato sauce
1/2 can of frozen orange juice concentrate (6 oz)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce
2 lbs chicken breast tenderloins

Zest the lemon and lime into a large resealable bag, then squeeze out as much juice as you can from each into the bag and throw out the pulp and seeds. Mix everything else in and toss in the chicken; marinate overnight. Skewer the chicken, throw on grill, baste it with the leftover marinade if desired (be sure to bring it to a boil first), then enjoy!

I LOVE grilled chicken - more than burgers even (if done correctly) and they have less calories too! Also, try grillin up some veggies - onions, peppers, corn, mushrooms, ect. YUM!!

This Allen trade has me thinking Hershal Walker but not as devistating.

I am glad Allen went to the Vikings Now My Broncos wont have to worry.

Brats & Beer. That's how a Packer fan does it. Calories and health go out the door when it comes to football.
