After 2 years of crappy meds that bloated me up 70 pounds and mounds of stress... I am ready to go back to my slim self again! Plus, I want to look good in a bathing suit for my 3 year anniversary vacation in florida :-)

So I was talking to my mom about my weightloss and told her i had lost about 4% body fat. She asked me, "How much is that?" and i had no clue lol.
You know how people compare 5 pounds to a bag of potatoes? What could i compare 4% bf to?

Stina-belle, you know this is not a one-size-fits-all number--4% of 50 lbs is of course not the same as 4% of 10.
Did you go down a belt-loop hole with the 4%? If so, then that's something tangible to share with your mom.
In any case, it's showing on your face and I'm sure she's noticed that.

Best thing is to work it out for her. If you lost 4% bodyfat Mum then you'd have x less lbs of fat.
(Now look impressed next time I damn well talk to you and tell me how amazing I am!!) Sorry I don't know where that came from, ha ha

I'm basically trying to get in shape and be healthy...
diaryofthefatman.blogspot.com
I like participating in sports but I want to be more competitive. Also I'm with Kevin Spacey from American Beauty - good reason :)
I'm looking to lose about a hundred lbs in the course of a year, and basically to just consistently get better. And I love comments and messages, so keep 'em coming!
I talk about goal setting a lot, how about I actually set some?
Well it's time to revisit goals... I didn't do too well with my end of year plans, but learned some things and changed my plans up a bit as I went along. During the 5-7 weeks of the year, I was able to put on about 8-10lbs of muscle, and stay at the same actual weight. The plan is to start the Strong Lifts 5X5 program to supplement the Couch to 5K program, and that should last the next 8-12 weeks.
I'm updating goals as well. Lowering cholesterol remains a goal, and I'll find out about that at the end of August.
Been bouncing around a bit, but getting a little stricter again and will monitor that over the next 3-4 weeks. I feel poised to really lose some weight again, so I'm looking forward to the healthy eating and additional exercise.

that's clearly implied any time you talk to someone in person, you're just making sure the message gets across properly in text form...

I'm reminded of Goldie Hawn's performance in the HouseSitter. If it's doesn't matter much anyway, then you may as well lie to make it interesting.
If Rosie O'Donnell lost 4% body fat, she'd be Sarah Jessica Parker. Ba-dum-BUM!

Here's one for you Do the math like Dean recommended.
For me I was 180lbs @ 20% Body Fat.
That was 36lbs of Fat on my 180lb frame.
I'm now 194lbs and I'm down to about 16% (or less) body fat.
Thats 31.04lbs of Fat on a 194lb frame.
I've put on 19lbs of Muscle while losing 5lbs of fat Thats a sack of Potatoes for 4% body fat for me

I usually say I lost x lbs of fat and gained y lbs of muscle. That seems to mean more to most people.
