So as most of you know the scale has not budged but I have been losing lots of inches. People have been telling me not to worry too much about the scale because I am losing fat and in about a month's time the weight on the scale will start to change.

So I am wondering, what if it doesn't? I'm not worried or let down or anything, just wondering. Its been over a month now and I am still losing inches but no pounds. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Would be a miracle if you keep loosing inches but not pounds for monthes - but if you should really be worried.

Acutelly its normal that you just loose inches and not loose weight. Most even gain weight when they start to train. At the beginn you start build a relative high ammount of muscles ( and as you might know, muscles weight much more then fat). That's why you should
a) maybe mesure progress in body-fat or inches
b) totally not worried

And actuelly, is it really the weight you want to loose, or "just" shapen your body?

Just focus on the inches... you will not gain muscle forever, unless you're working out like a bodybuilder! The scale is evil. It says I haven't lost any weight this week, yet I've lost a 1/4 on all the major measurements, which equates to about 2-3 lbs fat loss. My only worry is that my ideal weight is going to be 150, and for some reason I just don't like the sound of that. I want it to be 135! LOL. Oh well, I guess I should just get over it, huh?

Again, just focus on inches, not pounds! :P

Angie, I have to agree with you....I don't want my ideal weight to be 150 either...just because it still sounds like alot LOL. But I am having the same issue this time around...measurements are shrinking...clothes is getting looser (just had to buy a pile of new clothes) but yet my weight has only dropped about 1 lb in the last 5 weeks!

I know I shouldn't complain Stina as you have not dropped any but....140 is 23-24 lb away and that really seems like a lot more weight to lose. Plus most of those pounds are on my stomach/hips/butt...but if I lose that weight it ain't all coming off that end if you know what I mean!!!

I'm in the same boat as you Stina. I've only lost 6 lbs in 12 weeks but muscles are growing, my pants are fitting. So I'm like you. Trying not to be discouraged with the lack of lossage (as Richard would say ).

23 pounds is less than 50! Its funny that to you, you seem so far, but to me, you seem so close! Oh irony

It's all relative I guess! While I was losing bigger numbers 1-2lb per week 23-24 lb didn't seem to be such a big obstacle but since the weight lost as slowed down it seems like this last pile is going to take forever!

I also don't look like I weight as much as I do so my final goal weight will depend on how I feel about myself. I would like to get close to a flat stomach and being able to see at least a little of the muscle...that'll probably mean I have no boobs but still quite a bit of butt and thigh but that's my body and you gotta love it as I am stuck with it for the rest of my life!

Who really cares? (though of course we all know the scale will sort itself out and start rolling down again). The main thing is that as each day goes by you are changing from looking great to awesome! What can be better than that?

In the process you are giving your body many great advantages with regard to health, stamina and well being.

Enjoy it, you're living the dream

When I was 135 I looked like a model - very lean, very slim. I'm 5'8". At 150 I'll have a bigger arms and thighs. It'll be all muscle, I'm sure. We'll just have to see what my body does when I get closer to that weight. It turns out I've gained quite a bit of muscle as I gained weight, and now since I've been "dieting" I've gained about 7 lbs more muscle. GRRRRR.

Isn't it so interesting how each body is so different when it comes to weight? I am 5'8" as well and looked like a model at 155. If I were to go to 135 I would look anorexic.

Yeah, you must have a larger bone structure than me. I would still consider myself to be a medium framed person however. At my leanest I was 36-24-36. Very tall and slim. Ugh, I'm disgusting now, LOL.

There were some people who told me I was getting too skinny though! I think they were just jealous, haha. For sure, I probably didn't need to drop much more weight back then.

This is ME at 155 - as you can see, I was nicely padded. Too bad I didn't try to lose weight before the wedding. I was a lot leaner and more sculpted @ 135.

What are you saying??

You were lucky to look so great in your wedding photos and I'm not sure being 15 pounds lighter would have made the photo any better.

Of course, there are people who could really do with losing 15 pounds and to them I'd encourage them to do so, but this isn't an example of one of those people.

You can see that you have good strength in your shoulders which is important when trying to pull off this kind of dress, and your arms are in good proportions to your body. Nice and frim without being long and spidery like ultra lean women have them.

I think you are being hard on yourself if you don't like this picture. I think Mr Angie should have smiled more and been more grateful, ha ha, he looks as if he's contemplating a runner. I'm sure he wasn't.

Oh, I'm not saying I thought I looked bad, I was just demonstrating that there isn't a whole lot of muscular definition in my shoulders and arms. At 135 you would have been able to see my shoulder muscles and biceps a lot better, without them being "spidery". While Stina might look very lean at 155, I on the other hand, looked "proportionate" and healthy, as you've put it. I don't think anyone would say I would keel over dead if I were 20 pounds lighter than that picture!

Thanks for the compliment though! And I agree, hubby doesn't look too thrilled, haha!

No kidding! You look fabulous! Marriage is an evil ploy to make us gain weight, LOL.

Just think though, a few more months and we'll all be back to the way we looked back then!

fwiw, i met someone out thursday night that was about 5'6/7, was just over 150, and was gorgeous - she was athletic and had a great body. The number isn't that significant unless it's grossly out of whack.

And that's what keeps me going... people wish they had many things that seem to be unreachable (whether it be blue eyes instead of brown, bigger lips, etc) but this is one this that I have control over, that I can change. There are no risks, it can't be botched, and its so achievable!
