Last Friday, I had an appointment with my surgeon about a hernia operation I have been needing for quite some time...it is an incisional hernia, due to having 2 csections, it weakened the abdominal wall and now, theres a lump the size of a grapefruit

He said to me they won't be able to operate due to the higher risk involved with me being obese, plus the chances of infection/recurrence are alot higher when you're o/weight...so I said, well good thing I have started losing weight

He mentioned I won't be able to do much exercise for about 6 weeks post operation which really irritates me....so does anyone have any tips on how I can avoid putting on the weight while not being able to do much physical activity...in the mean time, I need to focus on losing as much as possible until he sets a date for my operation.

Oh also, I forgot to ask him, but would anybody know what weigh I will be when they would operate on me/when I'd be less of a risk..would it be something like 10% loss of current body weight or more?

Thanks in advance all...

Continue eating the same number of calories after the surgery, or maybe even slightly less than you are now. I wouldn't take it to any extremes, because you're going to need energy while healing.

Make sure the foods you are eating are as healthy as possible while your body is healing! The healing process consumes a fair amount of energy, so you'll have that going for you!

Look into exercises you might could do that wouldn't involve your abdominal muscles - I know that's a tough one!

If you are able to do low impact exercises like walking, maybe start with something like that, and take it slow and easy.
