I just got a call from my trainer for the past 2+ years and the gym just suddenly out of nowhere fired her today! She's become one of my best friends and the whole reason I've met so many of my health goals, and they just threw her out suddenly, blaming her for things she had nothing to do with and telling her she wasn't doing her job (a complete lie!). In fact, they started calling her clients to say she was no longer employed there before telling her she was fired!! I'm so upset and want to know if there's anything I can do to help.

The gym itself has become such a scummy place, and they really verbally reamed her in public tonight in the most horrible way. Is there anything that can be done? Is there a way to complain about the way the business is run at the gym itself? Does she have any legal recourse whatsoever?

I'm just sick to my stomach over this. I already canceled my own membership, but I feel like there has to be more I can do for her. She's just done so much for me. Please advise...

Thanks,

Sandra

Seems like there's more to the story. Good trainers are an asset to the gym and even the most dense gym owner would know that. I think you did the most you could do, stop supporting the gym. Tell people just what you said in your post. If it's a dirty place with rotten people it won't last long.

There may be a wrongful termination situation, depending upon the terms of her employment and the truth of what happened.

Ditto, stop supporting the gym and encourage others to do the same.

Additionally, there may be a legal issue with the gym contacting her clients in that manner (depends on state labor and privacy laws) - something she should look into.

If you want to pursue something legally, I'd look up Slander online...have a lawyer write a cease and desist letter to the gym for trashing her name to the public. That'll give them a nice scare.

Even if she were doing something scummy, there are still legal bounds about the manner in which they can spread the story around.

Good luck.
