I'm supporting my wonderful man as he embarks on his journey of becoming physically fit. I love fitness and try to engage in vigorous exercise every single day. It makes you feel even more amazing than you end up looking! I would love to motivate others who are looking for a little push!

I am 29 years old and have grown passionate about fitness and health! Overall, I have lost and kept off a little over 40 pounds, and I have about 20 or so more that I would like to take off. This last year has been tough and distracting in many ways, and I am back to work now! I am revisiting Traineo, because this site and the people here were instrumental in helping me lose my original 40 pounds so I am back! I regret that because of time constraints I won't be able to be AS active in the forums as I used to, but I will certainly try to stay in there and reconnect with old friend as well as make new ones.
My fitness goals remain the same as before as I haven't achieved them yet: *GOAL 1 = 140 lbs Target Date = 7/31/08 Date Met = TBD CURRENT FITNESS GOALS: Run a 5K, improve flexibility enough to do the splits, be able to do 50 pushups in a row, be able to do a pull-up, learn to do a hand stand and then hand stand pushups. :)

My weight has gone up and down repeatedly in the last few years. I managed to lose a lot of weight before getting married 2 years ago, but have since gained most of it back.
I hope to find new motivation on this site, and hopefully make some new friends. This time I want to lose weight and keep it off. I'm trying to not think of it as a diet, but as a change in lifestyle.

I am a contractor for a monolithic IT firm. This translates into a lot of time spent sitting. I have always been a big guy, but I am tired of being obese so I am going to utilize the power of community to hold my feet to the fire to stay active.

I work in the automotive field as a project manager. Sitting on my butt all day makes it get too big. I started traineo around Nov 1, 2006 at 205 lbs and have lost over 25 pounds! I want to be 169 lbs or below since that is a BMI below 25, although I don't know if my body will do that - I've always been a little "top heavy"
You can see though when you look over a year of weight data that I've hit a plateau of around 180-185 pounds. It's still keeping off the original 20-25 pounds but I would like to do more. I know I feel lighter and more agile at 175 pounds, so 169 pounds would be really lean for my build.

Great job! Tell us what your keys to success were! Also, are you setting another weight loss or fitness goal for the next 3-4 months?

As the supposed "fine man" in question, thank you for your kind words and congrats to all who are working toward positive changes.
A visibly overdue pedicure now figures prominently in my updated goals!

John W, in response to your question, we tried not to overdo it with too strict of a diet. I knew he'd be off the wagon before he got started if we ruled too many things out, so we started out eating as healthy as he could handle, allowing him to eat however he pleased on the weekends. He soon developed a taste for healthier meals, and his beloved Mexican food and pizza were no longer common cravings.
As far as exercise, he rides his bike to work everyday (comes to about 45 minutes of cardio) and runs about 4-5 miles three times a week, sprinkled with some calisthenics. But we also try to include fun outings on the weekends that require lots of physical activity so we go hiking a lot and take walks almost everyday.
It definitely wasn't a horribly drastic change that made it particularly terrible to endure and that was really the point...he wanted to make a lifestyle change that could be sustained forever. If he felt like he was being tortured, he'd obviously quit!
I also think having a buddy to do all of this with helped him. I suggest that to EVERYONE. If someone is relying on you to meet you for that run, or someone is waiting to hear the news about your most recent weigh-in, you are much more likely to stick with it. So get one of your friends to join you, it would be good for both of you!
John L, hope your not mad at me for posting the photo of your woolly mammoth feet!
