That was probably the best Super Bowl I can remember. Both teams played great and it came down to the last minute of the game. I loved it!

I can't really say both teams played great... The Giant's defense was solid, but both teams had mediocre offense... It didn't look like a 'super bowl' caliber game at all... that, and most of the second half commercials sucked.

And talk about over-compensating half-time shows... Ever since the 'wardrobe malfunction' there has been a proliferation of phallic symbols, last night's pinnacle being the phallus/arrow penetrating the heart...

Now tell us how you really feel Dave. LOL

I agree about the second half commercials though. We were rating each commercial on a scale of 1-10, and ALL of the second half commercials got -2 or worse. And yes, the offense was atrocious. What happened to Tom Brady? Did he have that girlfriend curse thing going on like Tony Romo? I'm happy for the Giants now, although I don't think Straham will ever shut up now...LOL

As much as i've tried I still can't get my head around American Football. Any of you guys into Rugby? Now that's a game!! My Uni days were filled with the thrill of a good Rugby Match and I've still got the scars to prove it.

It's actually not that bad. It's just what you are used to. We had an American Football team at the Uni at the same time and most of the players there were in the British Bulldogs American Football team.

There was an intense rivalry as they were both very masculine and competitive sports so the bar was full of brawls in a bid to settle who really were the biggest meatheads. It was so silly, yet so so strangely entertaining after 10 pints of snakebite. The way we were huh?? Young and reckless.

We challenged them to a game of rugby league for charity but they declined. We eventually had a charity match of Rugball which was basically football (or soccer to you guys) with a rugby ball. It was physical enough to be fun, and it raised money for a good cause. Ha ha

You know how hard it is for me to catch a Rugby game here in the states? Let alone Football(soccer). I need to get a subscription plan at some point so I can watch/record em. I am an All Blacks fan and I am really undecided on football I am pushing more towards AC Milan.

But like I said it is so hard to catch games so I really don't follow it.

EDIT: Also I would love to live in Europe some day... loved it when I was there.

Dean, you brought back memories.

I lived the Rugby life at school and later college in the UK (in Twickenham, no less, home of British Rugby). With a little time on school team. Mostly played as fly half, and not very well. Probably just cos I could kick, and that's about it. But it looks more brutal than it is. Easy for me to say I guess, cos I dished off of the ball pretty quickly to the centers.

At college we also had a US team play our college rugby team during a visit and it was pretty entertaining stuff. The celebration in the bar at the end of the season was beyond compare.

These days I'm a rabid Giants fan here in the US. Yes it does take a while for a Brit to get his head around, but in time, the intensity of the game reveals itself. Yesterday was an edge of seat game for us, but maybe ugly at time for others. For the NY or Pats fan, those ugly moments were desperation in motion.

Offense yesterday was heavy going for a reason: The NFL's two best defensive teams got to the final. No other Dfense stopped the Patriots all year = Nightmares for Brady and co.

Pats had a great season, and Welker is just an awesome player, but they ran into a Giants team firing on all cylinders, that had progressed a few notches since their last close meeting.

I am so happy that Eli Manning has the ability to randomly throw a ball up in the air and someone can somehow randomly catch it.

I am still sick to my stomach over that game. Eli's "miracle drive" was nothing but sheer luck. Not that I sound like a bitter Patriots fan or anything, lol.

The only thing lucky in Brady's career thus far is the tuck rule. At no other time did he amazingly throw a random ball up in the air that got caught.

Manning threw that up out of desperation and got lucky that it went to his guy. It wasn't talent and I am not convinced that he is any better than he was when this season started. The team around him and his defense is what makes him passable.

This is the exact same way I feel about Brady. His offensive line is amazing which gives him all day in the pocket. When he is under pressure he seems to scramble and make mistakes or just take a hit... Brady is good at throwing but that just makes him a mediocre QB.

Ara-

Obviously the lineman play a big factor but if Eli Manning were our QB since 2001 I can almost guarentee that we would not have 3 superbowl victories under our belt and he would have cost us at least 2 or 3 games this year on errant throws.

Brady is obviously way above average. Give the man some credit. I am giving Eli credit for playing well enough to win it all, but if you watched the same game as I, he was throwing ducks up in the air and luckily his team were the ones that caught them.

Like the guys on Sportscenter said before the superbowl, you put Brady on the dolphins next year and they instantly are a 8 or 9 win team.

Dave, did your Superbowl weight remain or disappear?
Mine, amazingly, went away this morning when I stepped on the scale. I'm only 0.2 pounds heavier than I was last week. So much for a loss this week though!
