My gym has a training group (that almost no one uses...it's really overpriced...they want like $100 a session or something). They're all weights. They constantly have signs up praising the goods of weight training and saying how bad cardio is. One said cardio burned muscle (which is true) and built fat (not so true), and another said that weight lifting could stand alone, but cardio could not.

I seriously want to smack that guy sometimes.

Wow. That sucks. Someone needs to be smacked. Weights can not stand alone at all. I think it requires a combined effort is the best, but cardio is great for weight burning.

I've seen lots of guys, at the gym, at the clubs, who obviously lifted but never do cardio. Big chest, big arms, huge beer gut. Not attractive at all.

Eh, they're trying to sell a service. But I do know that the hyper-agressive appraoch is quite a turn off. Traditional weight workouts and traditional cardio workouts should be combined together for best effort. Although studies have shown that HIIT will benefit endurance cardio but endurance cardio will not benefit HIIT. Maybe they're twisting that study around for their own use.

Well thank goodness you know better. Now you can spread the truth to your fellow gym members. I'd mention it to management if it really bothers you.

How on earth does cardio build fat? hahahahahaha Must be why the beer gut guys are afraid to do it.
