so i went to the doctor's the other day and found out i have tendonitis in my right knee, on the right tendons along the side, and when i run, or bend and twist my knee it locks up.
i ran 7 miles yesterday and made it until the end, but it was a painful process towards the end. i might have torn it, but i need to wait a week or two.

anyway, i had been thinking of working out less, and doing less cardio, and hopefully my leg muscles would shrink. my only issue is, i still need to lose fat. i work out 6 days a week, almost a little too much, and i think my body has gotten used to it.
i was wondering if you had any suggestions about this, if it's a good idea.. if there is a diet i could follow to ensure fat loss w/o so much cardio?
i want my legs to be leaner and longer, not so bulky and muscly. lol.

You can lose plenty of fat by just eating right. You eat healthy to lose weight, and exercise to keep it off. I would say, grab 10 or 15lbs dumbells and do some arm exercises, you could even do them while watching tv or something (that'd keep me doing it for hours lol). Are your legs noticably big....? Because I would say that doing cardio would probably help tone them, and make them look better (worked for me, although I still want the bulky look). If you work out long enough, your body will start burning muscle, which, will achieve your goal, but I personally wouldn't do it.

I noticed my tendonitis during heavy squats. I took chondroitin/MSM for a few months and improved my form and haven't had problems since.

Frankly, I think form and proper warmup had more to do with it than the chondroitin.

Why not try weight lifting? Check out Traineo's own Josephine M and her progress. ChickenTuna is another great example.

yeah, matt- my legs aren't huge, but they're really muscular for a girl, and my pants don't fit because of it haha.

as for my tendonitis, i don't want to lift w/ my legs bc it bulks them up more. i gain muscle easily, which for some would be a blessing, but not for me.
i used to do squats, dead lifts, lunges and such when I was training for rugby, and i had to buy new pants.

i just want to lose muscle and fat, but i'm deathly afraid of not working out as much as i do. i've become addicted to it.

Hello,

For excercise without being too hard on your knee, try aqua fitness !

I have been doing it with a friend with knee problem (still waiting for MRI) and her mom who has artritis. Water gives you support so it is not hard on your knee, and you can still work really hard. you don't feel sweaty (because of the water) but your face is burning !

Really fun too !
