The thing is that low blood pressure is so much less common than high blood pressure there's no immediate assumption as to the cause like "being a fatty-fat-fat". Apparently it can range anywhere from "just getting old" to "dehydration" to "infection" to "heart disease" so I imagine this is why you have to go through these tests. They're trying to eliminate possible causes.

It sounds like you're doing everything you need to do to rule out anything serious.

WOW JEFF! Those are some extremely low readings! Be careful with that. Have some caffeine or something. It is looking like low blood pressure is the culprit behind your passing out. Blood pressure that low can lead to some pretty serious side effects. DEFINITELY talk to your doctor about those numbers ASAP.

My reading for today is actually after drinking 24 oz of Diet Coke today too. I am a caffeine junky and don't like coffee, so I get my fix through Diet Coke or Coke Zero (whichever is closest to me).

If I hadn't been tracking my blood pressure before Saturday I probably wouldn't be too concerned over my readings, but since I am seeing nearly a 20 point drop on my systolic pressure since passing out last Saturday I am a bit concerned.

I am currently waiting to hear what the doctor has to say about my change in blood pressure, I hope to hear from him this evening.

If it were always that low, it wouldn't be a big deal. It's the change that is a concern. If you don't hear back from your doc, definitely make a call back. Sometimes messages get lost or go undelivered.

Hey Jeff, maybe it's a combination of these factors:
1.) Your blood pressure was high [at the time of the exercise]
2.) Your body was too dehydrated [at the time of the exercise]
3.) Your brain wasn't getting a sufficient amount of oxygen it needed [at the time of the exercise]
4.) Your blood sugar went too low [at the time of the exercise]

Once paramedics and doctors got to you your body did a self repair and got it regulated to what it needed to be? Therefore making your stats look normal.

I personally had this very exact same thing happen to me. But my heat rate was racing so fast that you could see my chest cavity vibrating. 20 Years later the doctors diagnosed me with a heart condition that is quite rare: Wolf, Parkinson, White Syndrome -- an abnormal heart palpitation.

Sometimes my heart can "vibrate" for two hours after my exercise has been complete.

I passed my tilt table test today. No passing out.

I know the doctor was surprised, but I now have a letter that will let me continue my workouts at the Gym!

I have nothing official as to why I passed out but the last cardiologist that I saw today that reviewed my tilt table results thinks the previous theory about the leg press is the likely culprit. He recommended that I do my weights before my cardio, and that I give myself more rest time between the leg press and any other exercises, possibly even a quick walk around the gym floor to help get the blood flowing back up from my legs.

I have a clean bill of health and and am free to get back to the task of losing some weight!

Did he have anything to say about the low blood pressure?

He said he isn't concerned about my blood pressure. He said I should be glad to see pressure on the low end of the normal range. He said my pressure was additionally low in the hospital due to the complete lack of activity. As for why it is now 20 points lower than before the incident, he seemed to not trust blood pressure machines to be accurate. He also said maybe I had been stressed and somehow I am calmer now after this as well. He wants me to continue monitoring my blood pressure but focused on the fact that my blood pressure numbers are very good and nothing to be concerned about. I will be meeting with my primary care physician and asking him the same thing within a couple of weeks to see if he has a different option, but for now I am not worrying about it.

Yesterday was my first day back at the Gym and all went well. I am wearing a heart rate monitor strap with a watch while I am working out now as well. (These things are pretty cool, the chest strap communicates with the elliptical and treadmill so I don't need to grab those heart rate bars any more)

The concerns I had about people at the gym being a bit freaked out having me working out there again were unfounded. Everyone was glad to see me and I didn't feel like I was being watched extra carefully by any of the staff. So this was good. Honestly my thoughts about being patronized were really eating at me. So I am glad I was accepted back into the Gym without any problems.

It feels really good to be moving forward again. A few years ago this would have ended my weight loss efforts instantly, but for some reason this has actually made me more focused on being successful than I already was.
