I have a small problem, some other people may have it too.... but I heard you get this which can be from exercise or tight fitted clothing if you exercise. I dunno. But it seems that I get something like pimples on my backside.... alot of people said that exercise/tight fitted stuff can be the problem. But I don't know, does anyone else have this problem? Anyone know how it can be fixed? I don't have acne problems or anything, but this is just wierd. It's really embarassing

I have noticed that ever since I started working out I have been breaking out really bad on my back (which I never use to do), also, although I have always had slight acne on my face, it has seemed to have gotten worse. I don't know how it can be fixed If you find out, let me know

I've heard that extra protein can cause acne. Have you guys been eating tons of protein?

No I haven't been. I've had them for a long while. I used to sit at my computer 24/7... so maybe it's sitting down. I still sit at the computer alot but not as much. I'm thinking of just switching to boxershorts insted of normal underwear, being female that might be strange. But I'll see how it goes . I read somewhere on the internet that something like exfoliating scrub works? I don't know what that is really, but I will see if we've got it here in AU.

it could be due to sweating in tight clothes-change your clothes right away -keep the area dry. also, have you been using a new soap or detergent? sometimes that causes acne there.

Light exfoliation and benzoyl peroxide. I've had the problem before too I know what you mean, I never related it to any specific cause but who knows. Maybe talk to a doctor?

hey girlie i looked it up for you! this is what i came across

Consider the fact that, most of the time, your buttocks are covered by clothing that can cause perspiration. Sweat can also cause pimples and other irritations, so make sure that you wash your body with cool water and hypoallergenic soap following exercise. Wearing absorbent material and natural fibers will help reduce the amount of time that sweat irritates the body, and will clear up many cases of butt acne. Also, make sure to remove your clothes and shower immediately following exercise because longer exposures to sweat and dirt cause a greater probability that pimples will occur. Butt acne may also be caused by friction from ill-fitting underwear. Wearing a lot of artificial fibers, like polyester or nylon, could also be the problem.

Even when the blemishes are driving you crazy, try not to pop or squeeze pimples, especially butt acne that is so often further irritated by clothing. Also, try to make sure that any body creams or medications used on butt acne are not oil-based and do not contain perfumes. Eating a healthy diet and making sure to stay properly hydrated by drinking plenty of water are also great ideas. Butt acne doesn’t have to be a pain in the butt. Consulting with the physician and exercising good common sense can make a big difference.

Thanks heaps for the replies, I think for the time I will try and do some of those, like shower right after exercise and stuff, and wear boxers :P

My exgf used got some one time. Try:
- Changing the material of the underwear you're using.
- Try at least for 2 weeks not to use tight jeans/shorts.
- NEVER scratch or touch the pimples.
- Drink more water (if you're not drinking the recommended 2L per day, if you do, try 2.5)
- Cut stuff like jelly, butter and cookies. (really important!, on women these are known to go directly there)
- Use a hard exfoliating scrub.
- Do some biking or step excersice.

Also, you can be having a allergic reaction to some thing in special. Try to remember what changes have you made since 1 month before they appeared, like new clothing, diet, food, drugs, more or less excercise and even sex.

Thanks for those tips. Well i'll go without wearing jeans for a while, because I know I wore them alot. I never touch them or anything, and I drink some water but i'll drink more. I think the main thing i'm going to need is exfoliating scrub. Thankyou

Wicking fabrics are best when exercising. A lot of people don't think of undergarments so much when it comes to exercise clothing. If you're wearing your same, regular underwear, especially cotton, with a layer of higher-tech fabric over the top, you're trapping sweat in between the layers. Rubbing is also a common cause of this. It's more likely to be a heat/chafing rash type of response rather than true acne.

I've switched to underarmor outfits. They cost a bit more but the breathing of the fabric is amazing. I'm not a Tank top in the gym kind of guy. I prefer to keep my muscles warm and help to prevent injuries that way. The warmth they provide while allowing sweat/air in/out helps alot.

I also shower right after my workout/stretch (within 30 mins).

Between all that and 4liters of water a day, i've noticed alot less back acne issues.

I also use wicking fabrics when excercising. I experienced some chaffing due to sweating... It helps a lot. Just be careful when you dry the item in the dryer, do not use a fabric sheet as it will lesson the wicking properties in the garment.

Most biking clothing is wicking material, but there are all kinds of types for everyone. All the major athletic wear makers have their brand names for it, like CoolMax. The good thing is it's been around a while, so you don't have to pay brand name prices for it now. Just check the tags on clothing, and those items made with this type of material are always marked.

All of the above regarding loose and dry clothing are great suggestions. I'd add that you might try picking up some chlorhexadine gluconate (CHG) solution- brand name is Hibiclens, and it's sold over the counter although you typically have to ask for it at the pharmacy (they have it at even our supermarket pharmacy). Use in in the shower 2-3 times a week. It is the same soap used in hospitals and it is safe for broken skin, although I wouldn't splash it around your face. We have patients who are undergoing surgery wash with it before coming in to reduce the bacterial load on their skin, and it can help reduce the hair follicle infections you're getting. Lather it on, then let it sit for 1-2 minutes before rinsing.
