Hi All! I'm AJ and I'm from Sydney, Australia. Like many of you, I'm on the positive journey to weight loss, and have just joined Traineo after my husband discovered it and joined himself. I am trying to lose 34kg (76lbs) and since joining two days ago I have lost 1.2kg (2.6lbs)! Being overweight is quite new to me, because I always maintained this reasonably light weight - around 58kg (127.9lbs) without having to worry about what I ate or how much exercise I did. In fact, I did hardly any exercise and ate a lot of rubbish! Admittedly though, that was up until the age of 22 - then I got married! Then we went to New Zealand for a honeymoon and then the weight just packed on! Five years and 31kg (68.3lbs) later, I joined Traineo. I'm doing a lot of exercise (2 hrs per day) which I enjoy, and I'm also eating only healthy foods. When I'm not busy eating right and exercising, I'm busy running my creative consultancy (I'm a Copywriter, Journalist, PR and Marketing Consultant). Life is good and I'm hoping to lose the weight over about 5 months. I look forward to getting to know as many people as possible on Traineo!

Hi Everybody!
I'm AJ and I'm 2 days old (that's my Traineo age, so don't worry too much!)! It's great to see such an active and positive site encouraging people to achieve their diet and training goals. I decided to join after my husband, who is also a member here, joined and told me how great this place is - he's right!
Anyhow, a little about myself. I'm in Sydney, Australia and being overweight is somewhat new to me. I'm just not used to it. For years and years I was able to eat what I want, and do nothing fitness-wise, and still maintain a great, healthy weight of 55kg (121lbs) - 58kg (127.9lbs). With a rather tall height of 172.5cm (5'8"), it wasn't bad at all! I enjoyed all of this until I turned 22. When I was 22 I got married and that's when I packed on the weight. Five years and 31kg (68.3lbs) later, I was in what I call 'unchartered territory' when it comes to dress size. Was in a department store and just grabbed some semi-decent looking 3/4 length pants and walked into the change room. It was then that I saw something I had never seen before: my body from multiple angles. Like four different angles! I was totally shocked and lost interest in the clothing. Just as well - even the huge sizes I was trying on weren't big enough!! Quickly I put my clothes back on, returned all of the clothing to their rightful place in the store and hot footed my way out of there! I was totally disgusted with the rolls of fat and cellulite! I was really crabby and angry with my husband saying I wouldn't be leaving the house looking like this again. Not until I had gotten back to my normal weight of around 58kg. Seriously I felt like putting a blanket over myself as I sat in the car on the way home!
Once I got home though, I decided to take action. I'd watched my husband lose weight throughout the week, since starting a new lifestyle, and I was going to as well. Sure I was exercising a little and eating somewhat better foods, however now I knew that rather than putting a blanket over my head and hiding at home for months until I shed the lard, I'd have to take affirmative action. Not a crash diet, not a quick fix, but a real lifestyle change.
So, two days ago I joined Traineo and what a site! I've lost 1.2kg since joining - that's 2.6lbs! Not bad at all, but I know I won't lose weight this rapidly along the road to weight loss. I'm watching what I eat and I'm exercising about 2 hours a day. I like the exercise and have no problems with it. I know now, after seeing what I saw on Saturday in the mirror, that positive lifestyle change is the only way!
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Cheers,
AJ

I had reached my goal weight a while back. Kids, surgery, work and inactivity brought it right back. I was feeling like crap, so I started over again.

Welcome to Traineo AJ ! Now that you're on the right track this site will only make things better. I've made some really good gains that I attribute to reading Traineo forums and articles while I chart my progress. Stick with it and the people here can really help !

I decided enough was enough at 126kg (278lbs) and joined traineo soon after when I reached 122kg. I was going okay for a few weeks but I had trouble finding the time to exercise. I'm re-motivated again and my goal is to loose 50kgs (110lbs) whilst signifcantly improving exercise levels, diet and my fitness. I'm a Software Engineer.
[Edit: since posting my original profile I ballooned to 129.5kgs but I'm now back on track]

My job is great but keeps me at my desk too much, and I'm the office chocoholic as well! I have decided that before my 40th birthday (this year) I will run a 5K. I have begun the training. Wish me luck!

Welcome! I'm a newbie myself - I've been on for a few days - and while I have managed to make some major changes to my diet, I find it hard to get the motivation to exercise. I'm hoping the forums and topics like this will make it easier to stay on track. I'm at my all-time high of 150lbs (68.03kgs) and would like to get back down to my ideal weight of 130lbs (59 kgs)
I come from the land of the fat (The US, where else?) and I find it difficult to deal with the overwhelming preponderance of junk food, ridiculous portion sizes, and general bad nutritional choices that we have! Good food is available here, but a lot of it is either overpriced or requires extra time and effort to obtain. It's difficult to find the middle path between the quick and dirty junk food habit and the time-consuming all-natural diet.

My weight has gone up and down repeatedly in the last few years. I managed to lose a lot of weight before getting married 2 years ago, but have since gained most of it back.
I hope to find new motivation on this site, and hopefully make some new friends. This time I want to lose weight and keep it off. I'm trying to not think of it as a diet, but as a change in lifestyle.
