Looking very nice! Some minor glitches that I hope Safari will fix, but very usable. Once again, excellent design decision to go with AJAX and not Flash...

Using a WiFi hotspot though. EDGE is unbearable!

It's a cool phone I played around with my friends. It just like any smart phone with a cool interface and touch.

If my phone provided had it I would get it but they don't and not that much better than the other phones out there to make me switch.

I ran DVD Jon's activation hack -- no AT&T for me! I'll use it as a WiFi browser + vid iPod for a while, until someone hacks it to run on the carrier of your choice.

I'm pretty excited that it shows me street maps of Tokyo, with icons for popular stores. Makes it easy to find an ATM to withdraw cash from for one (post offices and 7-11's have free ATMs that accept foreign Visa and MC).

The hacks will overcome the shortcomings, and soon. Thankfully, there doesn't appear to be any shortage of iPhones either.

I've been in the market for a new phone for about a year, and I put all purchase decisions on hold when the iPhone was announced.

I nearly changed my mind as the launch neared, and I ended up waiting a week anyway. There are a lot of good reasons not to buy an iPhone. In the end, you just need to try one at the Apple Store and decide whether the drawbacks are worth it.

One interesting side effect is that a lot of people are now wandering around with what amounts to a very small portable WiFi locator. People would notice a suspicious looking guy pulling out a laptop and walking around the street staring at its screen, but a guy with a phone? The iPhone supports WEP and WPA/WPA2 -- in just a day, I've found two open routers named "linksys" and one that was a store's inventory control system, with a WEP password called "password". Nice.

Shields up!

Let's have an iPhone App though, so we can track stats through it with ease!

Yeah it seems that the only good thing about the iphone is the interface, when I looked at the reasons not to get one I was like "Yeah take that apple".

Personally, I hate apple. Why? Because I like the Zune. But here in Australia the Zune hasn't and probebly won't be released because Microsoft is a pain in the butt. I liked the Zune better than the iPod, I was sooo sick of hearing iPod this, iPod that... and then with all these new functions like incorporating learning lessons for kids in school through the iPod im thinking "oh cmon, gimme a break". So I prefered the alternative, and I always liked Microsoft and the Zune captured my heart. Unformationaly I can't capture the Zune because Microsoft just doesn't wanna release it worldwide, or talk about it. It's only avalbile in the US and Canada.

Anyway, I heard that there was a Zune Phone perhaps in the making, now that would be sweet.

The main reason too why I wouldn't want to get the iPhone is, not because it sux, but because it IS so dang expensive. Considering it doesnt offer you many things that I would use, the simple things, like songs for ringtones, a camera that can customize, video recording, and say picture messages.... I mean wtf?

I dont surf the web on my phone, but by the looks of the iPhone, it doesnt really want you to either :P (see the flash support)

I hate apple too, to be honest. I'm a technologist, and I can't stand OS X. I work with Windows and Linux, mostly.

I guess I don't really give the whole flash support much thought. I don't particularly care for it. But then again I started writing web pages back in 1995, so maybe I'm a bit curmudgeonly like that. =)

Still, I have to give props to apple for creating what I HOPE is the gateway to a new era of phones. I got an iPhone because I needed a PDA. This thing is a phone, a PDA AND an iPod. For three hundred bucks, I got three devices. I sync my calendar, my email and my music. After I get this thing cracked, I'll load an SSH client and SQLCMD. Then I can do everything from my phone.

The only real gripe I have about it is the iTunes sync policy. That's REALLY lame.

It amazes me this hasn't been developed yet - even as a webapp, as Gyminee have done:

https://www.gyminee.com/users/login_iphone

If I don't see an iPhone app soon I'll be moving anyway - I have no problems logging into Traineo on the iPhone, but it's so cumbersome to navigate around with the naff way the calendar is presented...

Maybe we should be allowed to email into a secret email address our stats, e.g.
