Hi I'm Shannon. I'm a 17 year-old student in high-school. I used to be very involved in rowing but quit in May of this year. I'm looking to loose the weight I gained plus a little more and become more fit. :)
I hope to start rowing again during the next Spring season and I'd love to be in tip-top shape. I run almost everyday and lift light weights about every other day. I'm also an admitted chocoholic and I have no desire to be cured just learn to have more controle. ;)

Ok I admit it...I'm in hiding. Hiding from the Big Bad Scale. The scale that will tell me my weight. But I have a pretty good reason...I ate...alot this weekend. Ice cream for brakefast. Ice cream for lunch. Ice cream for dinner!
Anyone else?

As your motivator I'm very disappointed! As a person, I also ever so slightly overindulged this weekend, so you're forgiven. Go weigh yourself - I suceeded in piling on 5lbs - huzzah.

Had a baby in March. Now a stay at home mom sitting on the couch breast feeding all day. Thank god that burns calories, or I'd be in trouble.
Need to get down a few so that I can feel like a real human being again. We'll see how that goes...

Sometimes it's not as bad as you think. I was also hiding from the scale after a few nights in a row down the pub, but, I ended up losing weight (I have NO idea how). Just do it!

Hey, we've all been there. Sometimes you know the truth, but it's not real until you see it confirmed by the scale. Either way, though, you just have to suck it up and go through with it. Like Stacy said, you might be surprised in a good way (although when you "lose" weight after drinking it's generally due to dehydration and corresponding loss of water weight). I did the same thing this weekend - just a little extra here, and a little extra there really added up. But you can't move forward if you're in denial. Just do it! Then at least it will be over with.

i've always wanted to be healthy and in shape, but been too lazy to really do it...until now. something in me finally said: "hey cindy. it's time to get your shit together." so i did. and i feel great.
i am currently on hiatus from my studies at columbia university in new york city. i'm a sociology major and hope to do my thesis and graduate work on the complex relationship between humans and drugs. i hope, ultimately, to split my time between tenured professorship, musicianship, and mothership.

Would like to get down to 200lbs someday. I would also like to quit smoking (currently 3 weeks off). I find running is helping with both of those. I would like to run a 5K this October, and a marathon next year.

Last week was pretty bad for me. The weather was horrible, and I wasn't able to get out and run at all during the week. On top of that, I had a friend coming in to town, which meant going to eat at a local place that serves bison. The next day, I had a friend leaving to live in TX, which meant a big get together at a local steak house, with way too much beer. In the end somehow I managed to weigh exactly the same as a week earlier. I got on and off the scale a couple of times to make sure it was working right.
Just go ahead and weigh yourself. The worst case scenario, you gained weight, now you have a personal example of what happens when you give into your cravings, and that should make you more resillient to them in the future.

Plus, it's great to watch your weight come down again quickly as the new "temporary" excess weight falls off.
