I always struggled with my weight. My alltime high was 215 lbs when I was 18 years old. I always bounced back and forth between that weight to about 170-175 lbs, but I never managed to shed all my pounds, get in shape and stay healthy. After I immigrated to the United States 3 years ago with my husband (American, I am German), I started to work out 5 times a week at Curves (Circuit Training) and Atkins-Diet. My husband married me, when I was around 170 lbs, so I know he loves me no matter what ;-) (But I have to say that he is VERY proud of me NOW LOL)
Now I struggle a little bit with my weight, but it has something to do with my health and a little bit of post-pregnancy weight. I was up to 150 lbs and I am in the process of losing the weight again with Circuit Training and healty dieting.
Here are my before and after pics. I still can't believe that that's me on the "heavy" picture. It's like two totally differnet persons on the outside, but I am still the same person on the inside.
129 lbs before cosmetic surgery (breast lift and augmentation, which was REALLY necessary)
131 lbs after cosmetic surgery:

With a family history of obesity, staying fit and losing weight for me are more than nice-to-haves: They're essentials.

Congrats! That's an amazing transformation and an inspiring story. I think the hardest part is keeping weight off long term after the good intentions and the vivid images of a tubby tummy fade, but it sounds like you are on a great track for success!

I'm a network engineer in the Great Northwest and I co-host a podcast at geekfit.com with Jason Tucker (abstrakone).
When I started this journey in March 2005 I weighed around 400 lbs.
The thing that jarred me into motion was a picture my wife had taken on Christmas morning 2004. I was sitting in a low armchair wearing my usual outfit: sweats and a t-shirt. It went from belly to legs to feet -- no knees!! I said, "oh hell no."
I got myself a gym membership and started out swimming every morning. That progressed to the treadmill and finally to where I am today which is riding a bike 7-10 miles at a clip and playing DDR at the local bowling alley a few days a week.
It feels so good I think I'm going to keep going. ;)

You nailed it. After that initial 100 lbs lost I'm having to make a conscious effort to get back on track to get through these last 80 or so lbs.

Until January 2006, I am the definitive geek / couch potato. I was overweight and felt sluggish. Now diet exercise is part of my life and I love it!
I'd love to motivate and be motivated to continue this new me. Thanks for you help and support!

I'm a 26 year old guy from Tielt-Winge, Belgium. After my studies I would like to go back to my slim waist from several years ago. I completely change my lifestyle and started to eat better and exercise a lot more.

Had a baby in March. Now a stay at home mom sitting on the couch breast feeding all day. Thank god that burns calories, or I'd be in trouble.
Need to get down a few so that I can feel like a real human being again. We'll see how that goes...

I am a contractor for a monolithic IT firm. This translates into a lot of time spent sitting. I have always been a big guy, but I am tired of being obese so I am going to utilize the power of community to hold my feet to the fire to stay active.

Working a lot makes it very easy to come up with excuses as to why I can't work out or eat healthy. It's time to end the excuses, get out there, enjoy some workouts and eat healthy foods. I'm hoping that Traineo can help.

Hi! I have been training for around 8 months now, and was able to put on some weight. I am trying to gain more 8 kg in 6 months. Around 1.3 kg for month and at the same time reduce my bodyfat by 3%, currently at 16% right now. One of my main problems is having very bad eating habits, still before I started weight training I used to be a very skinny guy. If you have a common goal send me a message, maybe we can share some ideas. All the best!

Strange...
I find the first picture more interesting... not physically, don't know why, maybe it's the hair, cigarrete, piercing combo, and it really captures something in your eyes... hummm
The photo has that gone age look, reminds me of the eighties pop rock stars... hehehe
No doubt you look more atractive now. Don't even think about going back lol :P but you didn't look that bad back then.
By the way.. I am not your husband in disguise ;)

My fitness regimen includes stationary cycling, light weight training and lots of walking around NYC. I'm a graduate of WeightWatchers and an enthusiastic advocate of its balanced approach to weight loss. I'm sure that I drink too much coffee and get too little sleep. :)
My goals are to maintain my weight in a healthy BMI/BF % range and forestall the toll of advancing age. :)
I think Traineo's established a great community and appreciate the support and information we share.

Hi! I am trying to lose my freshman 25. I am trying to lose 30 pounds to get back to my original weight. At the same time, I want to be lean and toned. I enjoy activities like running on the treadmill, doing the elliptical and dancing.

I'm a 23 year old FFB (former fat boy). I'm a grad student at the Univ. of Phoenix. I was married on June 1st, 2007 by a wonderful supportive woman.
I have always been the fat kid so now I've changed that. I started at 305. I lost 80 pounds and was at 225 after I was sick. From Jan 07 to Apr 07, I put on 25 pounds. I then started to lose weight again, but started doing it the right way. I am now 235 and leaner than I was at 225. I'm going to see how close I can get to a 6 pack, but eventually I'll start trying to put on some muscle. Then lean out again.
Six-Pack would be awesome, I've never had one of those. So we'll see. (my photo is me at 305lbs. when i get a good pic of me now at my current weight, i'll post it)

Amy, no need to yell.
Did you replace smoking with eating?
Also, nicotine is a stimulant, so just like caffiene, would cause your body to be on fast all the time, and burn more calories.
Proper diet and proper exercise.
