Hi there, I just got my blood work back and I have some fantastic news to share....
My total cholesterol has gone from 228 down to 166. no drugs involved!
1 year ago, I was diagnosed with Metabloic Syndrome and I had ALL FIVE criteria.
1 my waist size was 48” plus
2 Glucose was through the roof
3 Blood Pressure was 140/90
4 Triglycerides were extremely high.
5 Good Cholesterol was less than 30
Since then, I have kicked Metabolic Syndrome in the butt…
1 I am a 36” waist
2 Glucose is fine
3 Blood Pressure is normal
4 Triglycerides are normal
5 my Good cholesterol is 37… still need to get that up.
I have lost 80 pounds...and my BMI has reduced from 40.7 to 29.8…
All of this was done without any medication what so ever....
ALOT OF YOU HAVE MOTIVATED ME TO ACHIEVE THESE THINGS.
I TRULY APPRECIATE THIS COMMUNITY AND YOUR SUPPORT!
THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME ACHIEVE A BETTER LIFE!

A skinny rail -- that's what I was most of my youth. I felt great and had energy to spare.
But in my mid-20's I started to gradually gain weight. Now I'm around 50 lbs. overweight and have been for 10 years. I'd like to be around to see my grandkids someday. Time for a change!

I lead a very busy life, so doing a diet and making time to work out is actually pretty difficult for me. I work for a school system fixing computers during the day, and work in youth ministry during the nighttime. It keeps me going. But it's harder to stay fit and healthy when you're so busy and convenience takes precedence over health. I'm working to change that. Hopefully, this will help.

With a family history of obesity, staying fit and losing weight for me are more than nice-to-haves: They're essentials.

I am 29 years old and have grown passionate about fitness and health! Overall, I have lost and kept off a little over 40 pounds, and I have about 20 or so more that I would like to take off. This last year has been tough and distracting in many ways, and I am back to work now! I am revisiting Traineo, because this site and the people here were instrumental in helping me lose my original 40 pounds so I am back! I regret that because of time constraints I won't be able to be AS active in the forums as I used to, but I will certainly try to stay in there and reconnect with old friend as well as make new ones.
My fitness goals remain the same as before as I haven't achieved them yet: *GOAL 1 = 140 lbs Target Date = 7/31/08 Date Met = TBD CURRENT FITNESS GOALS: Run a 5K, improve flexibility enough to do the splits, be able to do 50 pushups in a row, be able to do a pull-up, learn to do a hand stand and then hand stand pushups. :)

I'm just an average guy who wants to live a healthy lifestyle and lose a few pounds along the way. My goal is to weigh at 200 lbs and maintain that weight (with my build i can't go under !). Traineo is a great place if you're motivated and i am.

I am 34 years old, married and a father of a 2.5 year old. They are the motivators for me to reach my goal. I started the new journey on 8/21/06 @307 lbs and as of June '08, I have lost around 108 lbs. I have been able to keep 100 lb weight loss since Sept. '07. What keeps me on track is the Traineo community, vision of a healthy and fit future and the mini-goals below. *GOAL 1 = 244 lbs, Date = 2/15/07 Date Met = 2/7/07 *GOAL 2 = 229 lbs, Date = 3/22/07 Date Met = 3/30/07 ________________________ *GOAL 3 = 199 lbs, Date = 6/30/08 Date Met = 6/5/08 *GOAL 4 = 185 lbs, Date = 09/30/08 Date Met = TBD (185 is my "ultimate" goal. Then build muscle.)
Hobbies/Interests: Baseball, White Sox, bowling, WII, Xbox 360, PSP, XM, Opie and Anthony radio show, Ron and Fez radio show, variety of music, working out, running.
Personal Records: 5K - 26:18 (4/14/08-8:29/mile pace) 10K- 54:56-9/16/07-(8:43/mile pace) 10 Mile Run - CXLD due to injury Marathon - 10/12/08
Advice: - Set a Deadline: "A goal is a dream with a deadline - Napolean Hill." - Set Mini Goals - They help you accomplish small milestones on your way to the "ultimate" goal. - Track your progress. - Plan everything out. Daily workout routines, meals, etc. - Be patient. Your goals will eventually be met, if you work hard.

39 years old, father of a very active 3 year old who doesn't know the meaning of "sit still". Director of Customer Support and Operations so sit all day... lost 100lbs and have managed to keep most of it off, but gained back about 20lbs and am now trying to lose that 20lbs plus another 90lbs to get me down to 200lbs.

Congratulations!
I went from over 350lbs (actually around 380lbs) down to 280lbs and it felt great! Then I put back 20-30lbs when I took some time off (three months) of work to be with my wife and son (I'm a work-a-holic). Now I'm looking to get down to 200lbs over the next year and in the short-term around 20-30lbs in the next 3 months.
KM - how long did it take you to lose the weight? The stats are truly amazing!
Thx,
Mohamed

I have dealt with fluctuating weight my whole life. Before it used to be just outward appearance and vanity that made me lose weight, now its 2 young sons and a beautiful wife. I will do whatever it takes to be there for them.

I used to love running, 5K's and 10K's but years of only hitting it hard for a couple of months and taking a couple of months off has hit me in my older age. Not as easy to get back to speed. So I joined this site to help some friends and myself stay focused to keep up training all year long. With a balanced diet and a regular workout schedule, I hope to meet my weigh-in goal. When you take accountability, you accept the responsibility to see things through, you empower yourself to do what it takes to succeed, you make a conscious effort to stick to your guns and push forward. Any tool that can make that possible should be taken advantage of to ensure the desired outcome.

I am a mother of one. I had always been somewhat underweight, but during my pregnancy gained and gained and gained. I could not control the urges to eat. I even ate foods that I HATE.
Now, nearly three years after the birth of my DS, I am taking my life back; I'm reclaiming my health and vowing to not just be a mother to my son, a wife to my husband, but to be confident and feel attractive again.
I welcome any help and encouragement.

09/02/08 - 151, ugh! Well, it's only 6 pounds, it will come back off!
07/30/08 - 145 YAHOO!!
06/26/08 - 148, ugh, up 3 pounds but I just started The 30 Day Shred with Jillian Michaels (instead of my Slim in 6). WOW, talk about an intense workout!
05/30/08 - 145! YAHOO!! Up 7 pounds from December but after the past few months I am impressed I didn't gain 40!!
12/29/07 - When I started this particular journey, I was 187 pounds and had a BMI of 31.1 and was obese. I am now 138 pounds and have a BMI of 23! I am within normal range again! Thank you everyone for your support! ______________________________ 04/19/07 The start of the journey - I am a 33 year old single mother of 5, ages 8 to 18 and I am obese.
I never had problems with my weight until about 4 years ago. It started coming on and just didn't stop! I have yo-yo'ed long enough and it is time to get moving and get losing!
