When I was in my first year of college, I gained a whopping 30ish lbs (mostly within the second semester!)... At 5'7" and 195lbs, I had probably the lowest self-esteem of my life. I got to work in May of 2005 and by August 2005, I had lost 35 lbs.
Second year I gained another 10-15 but didn't beat myself up over it too much. I have since joined a gym, shed the 2nd year gain, and working on another 20 or so.
I really didn't ever think I'd be posting pictures of me showing midriff, but here I am. You can really tell the difference in my cheeks, yikes!
P.S. That's a piercing in my mouth, I don't have food in my teeth!

My weight has gone up and down repeatedly in the last few years. I managed to lose a lot of weight before getting married 2 years ago, but have since gained most of it back.
I hope to find new motivation on this site, and hopefully make some new friends. This time I want to lose weight and keep it off. I'm trying to not think of it as a diet, but as a change in lifestyle.

I am 39 years old. My goal is to be in the best shape of my life in my 40s, in terms of endurance and strength.
I like weight training, cardio cross training (from treadmill running to kickboxing) and above all Yoga.
I like music, movies, reading fiction, travel, exercise. I am vegetarian because I love animals. I love cats best.

Hi Amy,
These pictures capture Amy's progression from beautiful (your smile! your eyes!) to drop dead gorgeous.

My fitness regimen includes stationary cycling, light weight training and lots of walking around NYC. I'm a graduate of WeightWatchers and an enthusiastic advocate of its balanced approach to weight loss. I'm sure that I drink too much coffee and get too little sleep. :)
My goals are to maintain my weight in a healthy BMI/BF % range and forestall the toll of advancing age. :)
I think Traineo's established a great community and appreciate the support and information we share.
You'll find me elsewhere on the Web at http://claimid.com/nycinephile

@Amy:
The courage you've displayed in posting your pics has prompted me to follow up on an idea I posted in the Forum a few days ago.
I've created a public, invitation-only flickr Group named Train(eo)ing for Fitness. Interested Train(eo)ers can contact me at nycinephiles[at]gmail[dot]com to join the Group and visually document their progress there.
I thought we could use it as a space until Traineo determines if it wants to establish its own gallery. Once several Train(eo)ers join, we can decide whether we want to classify the Group as Private (member-view only).

My job is great but keeps me at my desk too much, and I'm the office chocoholic as well! I have decided that before my 40th birthday (this year) I will run a 5K. I have begun the training. Wish me luck!

Great job Amy! You can definitely see the results, not just around your midriff but everywhere! You are definitely an inspiration.
NYCinephile, how do I join? I don't currently have a Flickr account.

Hey Amy,
Have to agree 100% with the above - your results are amazing. You still had the beautiful smile and eyes even in the before pics
Remember, don't stop there - you've gotta reach your next weight loss goal now

With a family history of obesity, staying fit and losing weight for me are more than nice-to-haves: They're essentials.

I'm just an average guy who wants to live a healthy lifestyle and lose a few pounds along the way. My goal is to weigh at 200 lbs and maintain that weight (with my build i can't go under !). Traineo is a great place if you're motivated and i am.
