I am 29 years old and have grown passionate about fitness and health! Overall, I have lost and kept off a little over 40 pounds, and I have about 20 or so more that I would like to take off. This last year has been tough and distracting in many ways, and I am back to work now! I am revisiting Traineo, because this site and the people here were instrumental in helping me lose my original 40 pounds so I am back! I regret that because of time constraints I won't be able to be AS active in the forums as I used to, but I will certainly try to stay in there and reconnect with old friend as well as make new ones.
My fitness goals remain the same as before as I haven't achieved them yet: *GOAL 1 = 140 lbs Target Date = 7/31/08 Date Met = TBD CURRENT FITNESS GOALS: Run a 5K, improve flexibility enough to do the splits, be able to do 50 pushups in a row, be able to do a pull-up, learn to do a hand stand and then hand stand pushups. :)

Well, in honor of Fred starting a new biggest loser session, I will give myself some motivation by posting my first 50 pounds before/after photo. I hope to continue to see more transformation as I get back in the game to lose this last 15-20!

I have started two new blogs, one to follow my running and a Quest to a Marathon at blog.262quest.com and one to follow my weight loss at blog.2big.org, please check them out.
I am an IT professional / Developer which means I sit in front of a computer most of the day. This means very little exercise and plenty of time to eat.
I decided at the first of the year that I was going to lose weight. I started by changing my eating habits and started walking.
I did so for about a month and then added some weight lifting and started to run a little bit.
I have so far lost 29 lbs in just over 3 months and would like to lose just over another 50 lbs by the end of the year.
I have started running quite a bit more and am training to run the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta on July 4th (10k)
I need all the encouragement I can get because to do this I am getting up every morning during the week at 4:30 to go running. With a wife and kids this is really the only time that I can consistently do what I need to do.
I am driven, but at times get a bit discouraged because I don't have anybody to work out with or run with.
All in All, I know I can do it, I just have to remember that when I don't do so well, it is in the past and what matters is going forward.
A more up to date thread on me: http://www.traineo.com/14_2366_0.html

The couch to 5K program was helpful. In my opinion now, there is no better cardio than running. I did the elliptical and biking and everything else for years, but nothing worked as well as the the running. Perhaps it was because I was pushing my body to do something it never had. Now, I have gotten off track on it, and I am back to only being able to run about 10 minutes at a time. My lungs sure lose their ability fast. Perhaps that is my asthma? Either way, I will get it back, and that is what I feel worked the best.
But, my weight loss came as a result of implementing proper eating habits, strength training and cardio program that I finally found the right balance and the right motivation here at Traineo with all of you. Itadaki and Fred you two were a huge motivation to me, so thanks!

Sometimes to make a lifestyle change, it is necessary to change who you hang out with. And, although fish is good for you ....well Slappy didn't understand that you had to partake of everything in moderation.

I absolutely love running, but a few minutes on a rower changed my mind about the best cardio there is. The good thing about running is you don't need any equipment, and it's still a great workout. I really, really wish I had a rower though. And I clearly don't need one, if you can do what you did without one!

Cindy, I love rowing! I did that as part of my regimen too when I had a YMCA membership. In fact, there is a great rowing thread on here that I was a part of back when I started rowing because some other members seemed to love it so much. I toned up a TON thanks to that exercise, and it helped my cardio. But, after I left the YMCA, I didn't have access to a machine anymore. Anyway, rowing is great, but you are right - running is versatile...you can do it anywhere! Good luck with your goals, and let us know if we can help in any way!

Oh and to answer your question May... I lost the 50 pounds in about 7 months. I have been at 150 for the last two or three months, and my goal is 130-135. One thing I had to get over was the desire for "a quick fix". Once I got into the mindset that I had made a lifestyle change, it all started working out great. In the last 2-3 months, I have moved and have been going through a divorce, so although I haven't been working out as much, the eating habits I had created still remained. Therefore, although I haven't lost any more weight, I haven't put ANY back on either. It is so empowering to finally know that I am in control of that part of my life no matter what is happening in my life. That means so much more to me than the weight loss. I wish you all the same success.

A little about myself...
I joined Weight Watchers 38 weeks ago, and I have lost 20kg (44lbs). I reached my Weight Watchers goal weight 16 weeks ago, and have been a lifetime member since. I am now 5kg under my Weight Watchers goal weight. I follow the Points plan (I think it's called Flex in the USA).
I weighed 88kg (194lbs) when I first joined, and I'm now within the healthy weight range for my height 178cm (5'10"), as I currently weigh 68kg (149lbs). I reached the upper limit of my healthy weight range about 29 weeks ago.
In terms of exercise, I try to walk for at least one hour a day at a moderate pace. I've just started the Couch to 5km running programme, and I think all the walking I do has helped out a bit in terms of my cardiovascular fitness for this running programme. I supplement this with yoga, but I don't count this in my workout log on this site.
It has been a lifestyle for me, and I'm glad I have a supportive partner. I consider myself a WW geek, as I love reading and re-reading all the WW material I get each week, but also the magazines.
If anyone is doing WW, well basically anyone wanting to lose weight, I cannot emphasise how much help tracking/recording what you eat everyday. It has certainly helped me in terms of my weight loss.
On a lighter note, I'm a uni student, in my fifth year of study, doing law and international relations. And I love what I study.

What a great result Jennie
I'm a newbie to this site, but I've been doing Weight Watchers for the past 15 weeks, and have lost 13.4kg (30lbs) so far. I have 11.6kg (26lbs) to get to a weight I will be happy with, but only 4.6kg (10.5lbs) to get to my WW Goal Weight.
In terms of exercise, I walk at least 1 hour a day. I've just started the Couch to 5km programme, and I think all the walking I do has helped in terms of starting that programme.
I am within my healthy weight range for my height (178cm, 74.6kg; 5'10", 166lbs), and I think the Couch to 5km running programme will definitely help tone up my legs, in conjunction with yoga.
Yes, it is a lifestyle change, and I'm glad I got the help I needed before it became a big problem.
You are definitely on the right track to lose the last 15lbs

To Jennie W:
I'm new here (sorry for my mistakes in English, I'm a Spanish speaker) Well have you tried the JUDDD Diet? Tell me what you think about this diet...I think a "lifestlyle, a healthy one it's better, because it's permanent. But if a healthy eating habits is stablish...will be better. Some people told me about this diet...and I think I will start it soon, just to drop the first 10 or 15 pounds, and then...still combining healthy foods, during the whole process, including the dieting time, eat more veggies, fruits, whole grains, limit sugars, I don't drink so...and drink a lots of water, .....Right now I'm not on any diet. My starting weigh was 188 lbs on 05/02/2007 for 5' ft. 3 inches tall. Now I'm in 177, just trying to eat healthy lean meats, fruits, veggies, and walk 5 miles a day for 5 days a week. But I want to know your opinion about it...
Thank you and God Bless!
