The film 'Just Friends' with Ryan Reynolds when he's a big fatty and then comes back buffed and gets his girl. Always seems to motivate me! Top class film

When I'm on the stair stepper or what have you and really, really want to quit, I picture Jamie Eason in front of me, in all her fitness model & competitor glory, being my own personal cheerleader.

Works everytime. If I want to feel as good as she looks, I have to keep going. ^_^

I look at the people I see in the gym that I've seen losing weight. It makes me think "if they can keep at it, so can I".

My mother and sister: My mother is blind, but she manages her weight wonderfully, and she exercises 6 days a week. When she stays at my sister's house (quite often), she and my sister get up at 4:30 in the morning (yes, you read correctly), and they powerwalk for an hour! Even at home, my mother does 20 minutes a day on the Schwinn stationary bike (the one with the moving arms).

I also admire my sister because she makes exercise a daily habit, and she varies her routines quite a bit. She'll walk with my mother, but she also kayaks on the weekends, uses her Trikke, bikes to the library, etc. I really admire her because she has a terrible time losing weight, but even if she doesn't lose a pound in a month, she doesn't let that deter her from exercising.

So, whenever I feel lazy and don't want to exercise, I think of my mother and my sister, and that usually is enough to get me into gear.

I also use a skinny picture of myself for motivation. I remember how good I felt when it was taken.

The question wasn't who do you want to be like. The question was who motivates you. TKM may be motivated to NOT be like Britney for all we know... Let's dial down the intensity a little here all, geez.

Even if this was written crassly, I can appreciate it on a certain level as while dieting I have often thought of the starving people in this world and how we as 1st world citizens rarely, if ever actually KNOW what it is like to be really hungry. Not peckish, not nibbley, not grumpy from missing a meal, but truly hungry.

As for who motivates me, hmmmm I'm not really into celebs etc., but there are a few folks on this site that have brought a tear to my eye with either the giant steps they have taken, the positivity and encouragement they have offered, or how they've handled adversity and they are, in the above order, Rachael, Dean and Dave N.

I also find Splint's story, zest for envelope-pushing and keen-ness to test stuff out for himself, as opposed to the far too common regurgitations of fitness facts du jour to be a breath of fresh air.

There's a lot more of you on here that have my admiration too, so CHEERS to you all.

There's a girl in my social circle who took notice when I was drinking wine (where I normally drink beer, and lots of it) and I said I was doing it to avoid the excess cals/carbs of beer. Then we chatted for awhile about my current diet and exercise routine.

That genuine positive reception to my resolve to be a healthier man is currently my top motivation. Bonus points to my motivation if the positive reception is coming from attractive women.

I also find myself a lot more motivated whenever I'm reading these forums. So every one of you is also playing a a positive part of my motivation.

Minu, I hardly even know how to respond to such kind words. Just knowing that someone as awesome as you thinks that I am an inspiration is going to make me want to push even harder. I'm really quite overwhelmed with emotion right now. You are amazing, Minu, and maybe one day I'll be able to do a pull ups like you.

Maybe I'll get to visit you in France one of these days. I really really want to do one of those trips to Europe where you bounce around every few days and see a different country. It's a fantasy of mine.

Well, all character lameness aside, ole Brintney has not only beautiful lines but in her prime was in fine shape to show them off. I mean look at that pic posted--a QUALITY rump if I ever saw one.

And France in particular is certainly one of the more pricey items on the Euro-menu. If you're hankerin' for the countryside however and can skip the usual suspects like Paris, Nice, the whole Côte d’Azur for that matter, then thing$ start to look less insane.

EG: Just a few weeks ago I was at a big club in Paris and was rather taken aback to have the bartender asking me for 24 Euros for 2 vodka-tonics.

And they coulda been stronger...

Viv la France.

Speaking of France... I have been dying to know this... I have just finished reading a book called "French women don't get fat" - is that really true??? I have been in France before but I can't really remember what size the women were... I guess I wasn't paying attention at the time!
