My weight goes up and down depending on how I'm feeling/motivated and I often give up or set myself ridiculous goals I can't stick to. I also suffer from the "I'll start tomorrow" syndrome. Would love to hear from other people in my situation for two-way motivation, or not, for that matter! (when that damn red cross goes from my photo box, you can see what i look like as well)

I got up early this morning and got all my gym stuff together, picked up my car keys, just about to leave the house when I suddenly had a crisis of confidence. I haven't felt like that for months. I shut the door and stayed in my room instead of going out. I really felt like "why bother? I'm going to be like this forever anyway". Anyway, I talked it through with my Mum and I feel more confident I can achieve now, but it really scared me.
I have a lot of weight to lose and sometimes it can feel like a daunting task ahead of me. I'd really love to hear from people who have lost a large amount of weight. What have you learnt about yourself during that experience? Good/Bad? What motivation, tips, hindsight would you share with others?
Thank You

I haven't lost any of the weight yet but i been there. you get everything ready and your about to go get started then pffffftt, you turn around wondering why your doing this in the first place then, toss off the shoes and go do something else.
i still got to fight this urge.
you can do it. don't give up on yourself. you will get there.

Personal statement? What statement? Need to eat healthy, exercise, learn all about being fit and do it. I am getting there. Fun road! Nevermind all that. I am now pregnant for the 3rd time and feel like eating my way through the planet.

Alix, I have lost about 37 pounds in the last year and half. I definitely can relate to sudden loss of motivation. I was losing, losing, losing, high on motivation, patting myself on the back and then got tired of it and just felt sorry for myself. Sorry for myself in the sense of like having a tantrum: Why do I have to work so hard and why is not coming off and would I have to do this for the rest of my life? This just sucks!
Then I had to sit down and look at what I did for myself and how great it felt and I thought to just do what I can until I come out of my funk. Not to fall off completely but do the best you can while you are in the funk. I just realized that yes, I have to keep doing this for the rest of my life if I want to be healthy and thinner. Sometimes, it sucks but it is what it is.
If you are at the door and don't want to go to gym, maybe just for that day, go for a walk, get some headphones on and keep walking. It is better than nothing.
Take one day at a time and just remember that it takes work but so worth it in the end!

Hey Alix,
This is a very common situation and you already leagues ahead of most people in the way that you understand how you felt at that time.
The truth is people lose themselves within their goals by looking at the finishing line as something that is far away in the distance. This makes it seem unachieveable and much bigger than it actually is. We run the risk of saying 'How can I become this person?' which is where the doubt comes in.
How I work with people to overcome this is to help them bridge the gap between where they are now and where they are going.
You see, we are all products of our thoughts. What you see in the mirror is not who you are, and the body you have is a side effect of the person you used to be, though again it isn't who you are (or even were). You became your future the second you made the decision to do something about it. That is who you are. You are someone who believes they are worth more and deserve more so you are doing something about it.
You see, you don't have to focus on changing or hitting a distant goal. You have to focus on 'being' and doing what you love. If you want to be fit, then focus on BEING fit. Make fit choices and do fit things because that is who you are. The results are already on their way, if you choose to allow them to come to you.
Feel free to message me if I can help at all with your progress.
