A few ups and downs with the weight lately. Losing those last 10 lbs again now. Revised fitness plan: -some cardio EVERY day for a month to remove the revenge of the hip fat -some weight training, some pilates -I love biking and lots of fun summer sports! That's what it's all about-good times!
I will eat healthy foods and let my body weigh what it wants to weigh. I concentrate on whole grains, lean proteins, fruits and veggies, and I will eat delicious chocolate when I want to! Guilt has been removed from my vocabulary.

I'm sure it's happened to most everyone(?) Possibly more than once.
My regular exercise and healthy diet temporarily went out the window. My routine consisted of a variety of activities I loved-running about 10-15 miles per week, weight training, karate, several fun sports, some jumping rope, pilates, etc. I was eating good stuff, feeling great. But, life happens. Of course we are supposed to keep the healthy diet and exercise integrated with our lives, through the good, bad and crazy busy times. I didn't!
Time to get back on track. All is not lost, I guess. I maintained the habit of morning oatmeal or wholegrain cereal. It's not like I went to a dozen donuts every morning. A few too many french fries with lunches out, though. And I did keep some activities going. I did quite a bit of skiing over the winter. Now, it's baseball in the yard with the kiddies. Got my bike out again. Went for a little jog with my dog the other day. Not as painful as I thought it would be.
And for those of you who knew me through my preachy "throw out the scale" phase--I'm thinking maybe I should just step back on it to see how bad the damage really is? To see if I can get things going in the right direction again?
Ok, this turned out a little bloggyish. Some self therapy on where I'm at, where I want to be. I think I'll work on outlining a new little program on the old profile and get back to it!! Yeah!
Best wishes to you all-here's to consistency!

I'm basically trying to get in shape and be healthy...
diaryofthefatman.blogspot.com
I like participating in sports but I want to be more competitive. Also I'm with Kevin Spacey from American Beauty - good reason :)
I'm looking to lose about a hundred lbs in the course of a year, and basically to just consistently get better. And I love comments and messages, so keep 'em coming!
I talk about goal setting a lot, how about I actually set some?
Well it's time to revisit goals... I didn't do too well with my end of year plans, but learned some things and changed my plans up a bit as I went along. During the 5-7 weeks of the year, I was able to put on about 8-10lbs of muscle, and stay at the same actual weight. The plan is to start the Strong Lifts 5X5 program to supplement the Couch to 5K program, and that should last the next 8-12 weeks.
I'm updating goals as well. Lowering cholesterol remains a goal, and I'll find out about that at the end of August.
Been bouncing around a bit, but getting a little stricter again and will monitor that over the next 3-4 weeks. I feel poised to really lose some weight again, so I'm looking forward to the healthy eating and additional exercise.

Thanks guys. Yeah, it's pretty easy to just...let stuff happen to us isn't it! But, I realize that THAT is a decision in itself.

Good to see you back, Amy! You're right that we've all been there (some of us more than others), but the only important thing is where you are right now!

I'm trying to get back into running as a way of staying healthy and getting fit. I've got two races this year--A 10K in May and a 10 Miler in October.
My training includes 3 days of running, 2 days of cross-training and 2 days of weight lifting. I'm trying to eat a little better as well. More veggies, good protein and whole grains.

Same thing happened to me. Things got crazy at work and at home and the first thing to give is usually exercise. (And of course add a little extra food into the equation because there's less time to cook healthy things.)
The key is to get right back at it when you notice that things have gotten off track. Not one is going to be perfect 100% of the time, but as long as you're doing the right thing the majority of the time you'll be healthy and fit.

glad to have you back amy!!! thebest thing you did for yourself was to pick yourself right back up and continue where you left off and not let yourself slide any further. so congrats for that b/c that isnt easy!! also, the "damage" you did probably isnt nearly as bad as you think b/c usually we are our own worst critic and you have maintained some exercise and good eating habits. anyway, welcome back and glad to have you here!!!

I'm so proud of my abs....so I had to post them! Been weight training pretty seriously for the past 4 mos and I'm finally noticing some definition. Still have a way to go to get the much desired six pack, but off to a good start!

Welcome back Amy! Yes, it has happened to all of us but I truly believe setbacks can make us stroner. Which I'm so sure is the case for you! You know what took you off track and now you're back and ready to work hard. My advice, take 2 weeks to exercise and eat right before getting back on the scale. I'm sure by that time you'll be pretty damn close to where you left off!

Welcome back, Pontiac!
Nice to read you again, Amy AND to see that you're saddling up the fit-horse once more. I'm sure you'll be back at your fighting weight in no time, and I concur with Elicia here, put in 2 weeks of nose-to-the-grindstone and then hit the scale, you'll likely be happy you did.
Now I'm off for my workout.
