How is it that I get crazy bad sick the week of my triathlon?! *sigh* This really really sucks. I haven't been able to train at all this week. I can hardly breathe. They did a CT scan of my sinuses and think that I have a secondary infection - whatever that means. I could feel this thing coming on weeks ago and went to the doctor and got medicine and it STILL got bad! This sucks!! If I'm even able to compete on Sat - which I still don't know if I will - it will certainly not be my best effort and I HATE to see all my hard work go out the window. Not to mention that this is the first tri that my family is coming to see. I'm so disappointed.

My roommate is a passive aggressive douche. I hate waking up and seeing a note on the kitchen table telling me what I did wrong, again.

Passive Agressive Notes

Submit the note, then stick a post-it on the note with the web address of the site, then leave the note on the kitchen table and you can keep submitting it over and over and over...Fun Forever!

mmm i know what that is.
But yeah. definitely tops me.

Everyone in my house has been on my case lately. And I'm not even doing anything wrong. It's only two people, my mom and my sister, but they really haven't been nice to any degree. At all.

And I have been to them.
It's getting to me.

i need to vent about my body.
Everytime i want to do something positive about myself and my life whether it be academic or physical it always manages to stop me in some way with a smackdown.
Either with a humiliating syndrome that has pretty much stopped me from living my life normally or with a possible major health problem (possible but not confirmed heart problems at the moment) that stop me from starting a cardio routine that was already going to be difficult to start just because i hate exercising.

....I wanna trade in for a newer model....

I also hate the medical professionals in this town who could have given me an answer already if they hadn't lost my heart test, instead now i have to wait again.

I don't know what that is, but it sounds rough.

Patrick, that sucks. Have you tried talking to them about it?

Joanne, sorry to hear about your health problems. Maybe it's time for a better doctor.

I cant imagine how much pain you must be in Rachael. Sinus problems really suck! hope the meds r helping!

I pray too that it isnt anything serious! The doc said that my optic nerve was really swollen and if its always been this way , then its ok. But if its been happening recently then its a prob. We shall see what happens on Wednesday!

Actually, I confronted my sister about it.
And the next day, the world turned 180.
But for like... no reason.
If my life were a movie, I would be a confused and angry protagonist.
But I let it go.
No reason argue about how nothing was wrong lol

I could go on and on about the way I am feeling but I don't, I need to scream but when it comes to it I feel I have no voice. I am pissed off because I cannot seem to find the guidence to help me through what I am going through and feeling sorry for myself is killing me, it makes me so angry. One moment I am ready to grab the bull by the horns and the next I just fall back into a whole... I am so angry, so angry!!!!

Angry with the PT. Made me feel bad about running. Said one should not run to get fit, but get fit to run. I tried to tell him that I had been running since January, and started with a nice slow one minute run 2 minute walk, and I worked up to where I was. Just because I am heavy doesn't mean I cannot run(well what I do is really a very very slow jog anyways.) BLAH! On a brighter note. The exercises he gave me to do are helping my calf muscles.

Stephanie, you can totally run to get fit! I'm kinda hoping you misunderstood the PT because that doesn't make any sense. If you enjoy running and you feel that you are not hurting any of your joints, then keep going!!

My negative:
Furniture companies that wait until the day BEFORE they're supposed to deliver to call and tell you they don't have your furniture. As if they didn't know they didn't have it a week or more in advance. And then, you call to ask them about it, and they say they don't know when they're getting it.

Imbeciles...

Actually, I kind of discourage some of my heavier friends from running. There are other ways for them to do cardio that aren't hell on their legs and back.

yeah yeah yeah I know bean... but the funny thing is my knees and back are not the problem. I overworked my calf muscles. I think the PT was thinking all I did was run, and that I had just started up for Spring when in fact I had been training since January and had worked up to a sustained jog of 28 minutes at a 4.5 mile per hour rate, by cross training. But I wanted to complain, so I posted. I know it will be a while before I am in shape enough to run more than 30 minutes straight.

I am in an incredibly negative mood today. I think it is rather justified though. I'll make a list.

1. Sinus infection is still going. I am on my 4th round of antibiotics and my 3rd round of steroid treatment. Next week is my ENT appointment and my allergist thinks that the ENT may recommend sinus surgery or a TWO MONTH round of antibiotics. Both of these options really suck. Not to mention I still have the sinus pressure.

2. On Tues, I finally went to the eye doctor because my eyes have been extremely irritated for months now. Come to find out I have giant papillary conjunctivitis (GPC). Basically I have clumps of white blood cells attached to my eye lids so it's like having sand in my eyes all the time. He gave me some drops. I have to use them every 2 hours for 2 days (that ends today at lunch). And I have to wear my glasses because contacts can't be in when the drops go in and have to stay out for 5 - 10 min. Then I have to use them 4 times per day for a month. So I'll probably be wearing glasses for a month except when training. And I hate wearing glasses. Then I use a different drop once a day for a month after that. He said that should clear it up completely.

3. Wednesday afternoon my chest started itching a lot. By Thursday morning I had broken out with a really really itchy, red rash on my chest. I went to the allergist and she said it is either spider bites, hives, or fungal (secondary infection because of the antibiotics). Last night it spread some so I can rule out spider bite. It's probably hives, and they itch like crazy. I want to scratch SOO BAD. And sometimes I do. And that makes it worse. I am taking Benadryl to help keep it under control, but that is making me extremely tired. I'm about to pass out at my desk. I think I should probably skip the bike ride this after noon, but... I really like my bike rides.

I am so freakin' tired of being sick and now itchy too. Why is all of this coming down on me? Ugh. I guess that's a stupid thing to say. I know that there is a reason for everything so I'll just keep chugging along and hoping that I get better.

Words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I believe this is God's way of saying, "Slow down Rachael." Some of these issues can be caused by stress. I'm not a doctor, but stress can be a factor. You've taken on a lot of strenuous change in the past few months, you may need to ease more into the change then go full force.

Ask your hubby to "doctor" you up, he may be the only answer to getting the stress level down.

You are probably right, Richard. I have started thinking about calling off triathlon training until I get better. This will more than likely mean that I will not get to do the Olympic length one at the end of the summer, but I can always save that for next year. I don't mean not working out at all, but just toning it down - more walking and indoor stuff and less out in the heat busting my butt type stuff. It sucks, but I've got to get over this stuff.

Thanks for the advice, Richard.

Racheal, I agree with Richard. It sounds like you should slow down.

We are not professional athletes. The exercises or training are supposed to enhance our life, not to stress us out. There are many beautiful things and people around us. Like your husband, your best friends, training mates,.etc. You worked hard for the triathlon not too long ago. You deserve some times off to enjoy the thrill with your love ones. Take it as a mentally recharge period. After that, you can come back stronger as an tri-athlete.

Thanks for the advice Glovia. I have made the difficult decision to stop training for triathlons for the time being. It was a hard decision, but I've been sick for 7 weeks now. Sometimes getting better, sometimes getting worse. I just decided that enough is enough. I've got to give my body a chance to really heal. I'm going to use this time to focus on good eating and I still intend to walk or do something light (aka not just sit on my hiney all the time) two or three times a week depending on how I feel. Hopefully my new ENT will be able to provide some new positive information for me.

I think I've injured something in the area of my left tricep/elbow while working my shoulders and riding the bike the other day. It hurts to put pressure on it (from a bike or a push-up, or weights), to straighten it, or to bend the elbow completely.

And the triathlon is next Saturday.

EDIT: And swimming hurts. SWIMMING! The physical therapy sport!

Looks like there's a lot of limping in one form or another going around the place.

I'm no exception--been outta commission for a week now with a very frozen R shoulder, (done after stooooopidly lifting a very heavy sack of wet leaves, which was dirty, so I lifted it away from my body thus making the rotators take the load and boom, the next day paralyed with pain).

Only today am I able to move it more than a few inches forward or to the side without screaming.

I swear, nearly every injury I've ever sustained has been at my own hand.

The lesson, GET DIRTY sometimes.

'Least I can type.

Take care, all,

M.

Oh my gosh Bean! That really sucks!!! Did you just some how tweak it the wrong way? Have you been to the doctor? Do you think you are going to be able to do the tri? I hope it gets better really quickly!!

Minu, that sucks for you too! So many injuries around this place! I agree, you gotta get dirty sometimes.
