My postive today:

I could ran seriously again this morning and have started hill run training again. After 2 miles easy run warm up, I played with little brother hill. I did him 5 times (~2.5 mile in total) with ~2min range each: 2:05, 2:03, 2:00, 1:59, 1:59. They were all slower compared to the last time I run little brother hill weeks ago. But, I was able to keep up the pace and improving in each loop. I was content. I am sure I will be better next I run him.

How cool, Rachael! Late congrats to your tri.

Your hill bike ride and swim time are excellent to me! I cannot do those at all.

Thanks, Glovia! It's funny how you runners are impressed with the swimming and running aspects of the tri, but you could destroy me in a foot race! Haha. Maybe one day I'll be half the runner that you or Troy or Tim are. And congrats on getting back to the running!

Is a pace generally slower in an open water swim as opposed to a pool swim?

My open water pace in this tri was faster than my pool times. I think it has to do with not having to stop and turn around a million times.

my positive is that I finally started culinary school...we made an apple tart today & were allowed to take it home...and I didn't eat the whole thing!! haha...yeah, I tried some of it (and trust me, it's VERY, very good), but I resisted the urge to just scarf the whole thing down for dinner ;)

oh, and I've lost 5.5 lbs since moving to NY...that part is good, too!

I realized that I cannot lose weight constantly "cheating". A cheat day is just that, one day. I finally realize that I can only change if I change my habits. And noticing that I haven't been dying while sticking to my diet other days lets me know that I can do this.

Ha! Oh Bean, now you are crushing me in the run and the swim!! I feel so inadequate. Have you competed in a tri yet? You sound like you are ready for it.

I haven't, but my 12 mile bike time is 55 minutes. You have that to hold on to.

July 19 is my first tri, then I'm looking for aquathons. Screw you cyclists.

Today it's a mile jog, to stay loose for tomorrow's 5k. Tomorrow I'm running for money, and some Kenyans will be there. So, local victories, it was nice knowing ya.

Okay, so my bike time is a little better than yours. I did the 13 mile bike portion of the tri in 51 min. At least I still have a little dignity.

Aquathons are a lot harder to find. And cycling is a great way to balance out running because it works different muscles in the legs. In this way, it helps prevent running injuries. But if you hate it, then no need to keep doing it.

Cycling is my favorite part. Then swimming. Then running. I'm just so slow at running. But I'm going to lose weight and hopefully that will make me faster.

Thanks, Superman. I finally thru with the sinus infection. I have been down for 2 weeks. It was so sad when the temperature was nice outside and I have to stay in my bed.

+2hr climbing and you were not sore. You are indeed the superman.

Rachael, you are absolutely right about x-train to avoid injuries. I have been lacking x-training. I did bike before, got fellen down, have a big ugly scare on my knees,..then I did not bike ever since.
I learnt swimming last month. Now, I know the basic. But, out of practice since my last race and got sick. I probably would go back to practice again.

Actually, among all, I think swimming is probably the best to myself. I feel great to swim after long run. Not only it cools me down, but also it is kind of like massage to my leg muscle.

There you go, Glovia says it all. Aquathons are superior.

Haha What does an aquathon usually look like? Swim, run, swim? Or what?

Looks like I'd be more competitive, is what it looks like!

That swim at the end does sound disastrous, though. I'd consult wikipedia, but I'm at work.

I consulted Wiki, and I learned that it is usually actually called an aquathlon and it is swim followed by run.

I'm actually really negative and annoyed today, but I'll come up with a positive. Maybe it'll make me feel better.

I did really really well on diet and exercise this past week. I only had 1 splurge. And even though the scale didn't show it this morning, I know that I did everything I was supposed to.

After a long lay-off of intermittent activity/inactivity. I finally got my garage/workshop gym setup and have started runninig more regularly. I've got my 3k time down to 22 mins - which is a 2min improvement on my performance when I was attending the gym, I hope to get it under 20mins by the end of this week.

It feels good to sweat again.

I figured it was time for a positive in my life.

since getting the motivation TO workout(once i am there i am fine) is difficult for me i decided to do something about it.
i came into some extra funds so i went on amazon to look for FUN(big emphasis there) workout or instructional dvd's.
I found some in exotic dancing. it's something i always wanted to try and i am pretty sure i would love it. i have carmen electra's but i constantly roll my eyes watching her so i looked for others. i found four that came under my budget(marketplace can be a blessing sometimes) and two are specifically instructional, the other two are for every woman no matter what size and it teaches how to be confident with the body you have(something i have great difficulty with) and how to move sexy.

So the promise i made to myself is if i do my planned workouts and stay within my diet for every two days i get to add one of my exotic dancing dvd's to the schedule whenever or wherever i want.(have to receive them first). if i get an actual workout out of it that's a bonus but the idea is to have fun.

I'm calling it a healthy motivation.

I can move my arm again!

Amazing to watch the body repair itself, painful yes, but incredible nonetheless.

I can see my return to training on the horizon now.
