I'm basically trying to get in shape and be healthy...
diaryofthefatman.blogspot.com
I like participating in sports but I want to be more competitive. Also I'm with Kevin Spacey from American Beauty - good reason :)
I'm looking to lose about a hundred lbs in the course of a year, and basically to just consistently get better. And I love comments and messages, so keep 'em coming!
I talk about goal setting a lot, how about I actually set some?
Well it's time to revisit goals... I didn't do too well with my end of year plans, but learned some things and changed my plans up a bit as I went along. During the 5-7 weeks of the year, I was able to put on about 8-10lbs of muscle, and stay at the same actual weight. The plan is to start the Strong Lifts 5X5 program to supplement the Couch to 5K program, and that should last the next 8-12 weeks.
I'm updating goals as well. Lowering cholesterol remains a goal, and I'll find out about that at the end of August.
Been bouncing around a bit, but getting a little stricter again and will monitor that over the next 3-4 weeks. I feel poised to really lose some weight again, so I'm looking forward to the healthy eating and additional exercise.

I have been working out regularly since Sept 07. I've been here several times in the past BUT this time the change is going to last a LIFETIME!!
I am the mother of a ten year old competitive figure skater (which takes alot of my time). I work fulltime and my hubbie works away. Time is a challenge!!!
I would like to lose 20lbs by July 1.
I resolve to: Short term (by June 1, 2008): 1. Get back on track after my vacation in Cuba (April 7 - 16, 2008) 2. cardio 5x/week including trying to get back to running if my achillis tendon will ever heal! 3. weight train 3-4 x per week 4. Drink 64 oz water per day (this will be the biggest challenge!) 5. Obtain a Normal BMI (154 lb)!
Midterm Goals (by July 1, 2008): 1. Continue with short term 2. Try to increase mileage to run a 10 km race around Canada Day (July 1, 2008) 3. Try to find a 10 km race to run between June 15 - July 15, 2008 4. Obtain goal weight (currently set at 150 lb but maybe 144 lb) - BMI around 23 5. Continue weight training
Long term (By March 31, 2009): 1. To still be at this in 12 months time (the exercise and health habits not the weight loss part!) 2. To maintain a BMI of around 23! 3. To run a half marathon...if all works out...Myrtle Beach Half Marathon Feb 2009

I am a student in university so we all know what that means....
The freshmen 15 increased to 50, but that was over 4 years. I finally made it to the gym at the end of September and haven't looked back.
23 pounds down, 27 to go.
|
# Posted: 14 May 2008 01:43
I have been such a slacker lately, but I made it back to the gym today and I got to weigh myself and I am down to 156! 6 more to my realistic weight Yay!
My body fat went from 38.5 to 25! I am very happy about those numbers!
It's so close I can taste it!
But I am STILL not at my look good naked level.

back in the pool today after a weekend/start of the week with some weird fallout: low blood sugar, high stress, tiredness, headaches, dizziness... either a bout of hypoglycemia or overtraining? i dunno. but it's good to be back, easing it in.

My positive:
Well...oh I know...my blood pressure is almost back into the normal range. YAY! And I moved in with my best friend temporarily, who has a wii, so there's some supplemental working out that's super convenient!
And despite the current turmoil in my life, I'm extra ready to start hitting the gym again. Now if I could only find my workout clothes amongst the chaos...

I love to eat. Carbs is my weakness link that I always lose control in front of it.
I started running for fitness in 2007. Ever since I finished the 1st marathon (San Diego RnR 2007), I am addicted to running.
I started traineoing in Nov 2007. I have reached my goal weight in Jun 08 already. But, now, I don't care much about my weight. I care about it only if it affects my running performance.

My positives today.
1. I can float on my back now. (Don't laugh. I could not do it before.)
2. My swimming instructor said my legs have a lot of muscle. That's why the lower part of my body does not float like the upper body. It means I have runner legs now. He does not know I run regularly.

I saved my eleventy billionth Turtle from getting crushed by traffic this morning. I live in Central Florida, U.S. and there is water everywhere here. I love it when the people I have road blocked look at me with that, "you hippy tree hugger!* look for holding them up to help a turtle get across the road.

WOO WOO!!!! I finished my first 5K this year and beat my time from last year!!!!!!!!
42:29 made under a 14 minute mile!!! I made my first goal.
(I ran about 70% of it) I did not run the whole thing, but I am happy with what I did -- it was a hillier course than I thought, and the wind Saturday was killer.

i had my first absolute bicycle WIPEOUT this morning, it was intense. picking out gravel and asphalt from my knee was awesome.
it was a similar feeling to when i started getting callouses on my fingers playing guitar. or when my rat tail distincted itself from a mullet. i knew, at that moment, i am a star.

hm. new (bigger) shoes. experimenting with strap-tightness. my riding partner calling out 'oh god!' me looking back to see what happened, turning to the right, and hitting a curb without being able to take my foot out to catch myself.
i'm fine, it was awesome. i'm still bleeding since 6:45 this morning, though. but i mean what, just drink some juice and take iron right? i followed the hit with sprint hill repeats, altogether a 9.4 mile ride. i was a bit stiff afterward, but it's all scrapes and tightened skin. my hip and elbow feel worse, but they aren't involved in biking, running, and swimming...
