Success is not a race, be patient. Success leads to success. Success is always a work in progress. Success doesn't come to you--you go to it. Success is a journey, not a destination. Focus on the process. Some people dream about success... while others wake up and work hard at it. Success is achieved and maintained by those who try-and keep trying. I'm basically trying to get in shape and be healthy...
diaryofthefatman.blogspot.com
I like participating in sports but I want to be more competitive. Also I'm with Kevin Spacey from American Beauty - good reason :)
I'm looking to lose about a hundred lbs in the course of a year, and basically to just consistently get better. And I love comments and messages, so keep 'em coming!
I talk about goal setting a lot, how about I actually set some?
Well it's time to revisit goals... I didn't do too well with my end of year plans, but learned some things and changed my plans up a bit as I went along. During the 5-7 weeks of the year, I was able to put on about 8-10lbs of muscle, and stay at the same actual weight. The plan is to start the Strong Lifts 5X5 program to supplement the Couch to 5K program, and that should last the next 8-12 weeks.
I'm updating goals as well. Lowering cholesterol remains a goal, and I'll find out about that at the end of August.
Been bouncing around a bit, but getting a little stricter again and will monitor that over the next 3-4 weeks. I feel poised to really lose some weight again, so I'm looking forward to the healthy eating and additional exercise.

I know it's not much, but I hit my PR of benching 185 last night
I'm going for 195 and maybe 205 next week; I felt like I could have done more.

I've always been bigger. Maybe not classified as being fat because I carry it pretty well. But, well, I'm fat. There's no fooling myself. In January, months of hard work paid off as my wife got pregnant with what will be our first child. I had been exercising a bit until that point, but I decided to ramp it up a notch and get my weight to where I can be healthy and be around a long time for my wife and kid.
I've been known to drop 40-50 pounds in 5 months or so on a few occasions, only to slowly gain that weight back over a couple years. This time is different. I know everybody says that and usually that statement doesn't come to fruit, but I've got that incentive...becoming a daddy.
Got a blog rolling- rokandroll.blogspot.com
I post on it a few times a week. Mostly fitness stuff. I try to be somewhat humorous. Check it out if you're REALLY bored.

I only got a few hours of sleep last night but still scraped myself out of bed to get some cardio in. I feel a ton better right now than I would've without the exercise.

I can now fit into 38inch jeans - and even have to put an extra notch in my belt, before I was a tight fit in 40inch!
I also had an easter-egg yesterday and bad lunch (supplied by friends) and yet I've not changed at all, so I feel great that I've gotten away with it

I worked on organizing my garage yesterday...all day and it looks amazing! I also installed a cold air intake, new billet grill, and replaced the burnt out liscence plate lights on my Navigator. It all worked....woooohoooo! My muscles are sore and tight today...so I feel like yesterday was a great day!
P.S.: I'm getting a new tattoo on monday! Salvidor Dali inspired.

I am a student in university so we all know what that means....
The freshmen 15 increased to 50, but that was over 4 years. I finally made it to the gym at the end of September and haven't looked back.
23 pounds down, 27 to go.
|
# Posted: 23 Mar 2008 02:41
I seriously heart Traineo. I would love to tell my friends about it and get them on here but then I am afraid I wouldn't be as honest as I am now.
On another note: I finally get my ass to the gym today and low and behold, I forgot, one gym shoe! You know those days that you just don't feel like going and you go anyways?? Well this was one of them! Once I got out of the house I felt better and didn't feel like waiting for the bus so I actually walked all the way to the gym, which is doable, but not always great when you live in a cold climate area such as Canada. It was def. a little frustrating, but I wore my sneakers and did the upper body weights like I planned to, but no cardio because my shoes were def. not made for something like that.
That was my day, just felt the need to share it!

Words to live by: "Now's the time to grab the steering wheel of your life. Delve deep within yourself and take responsibility for your health and behavior. Ask yourself hard questions and face the truth of what needs to be done. Weight loss is not always easy or fair but you are the only one that can lose weight for you. Take a turn for the better!"
Goals: 1) Lose ~45 pounds 2) Work out at least 6 days a week 3) Eat healthier consistently
I will reward myself at the following weights: 240, 235, 230, 225, 220, 215, 205, 200, 195, 190
I will reassess my goals after I have met the above goals.

Since starting here 11 weeks ago, I have reached 10% weight loss of my starting body weight..I am loving reaching all these little milestones along the way, stopping to smell the flowers and revelling in all my little successes!
I got two comments today..firstly from the girl at work, she said "You are losing weight!" (lol) and secondly, from my boss - "I admire you're determination" - Made me feel so good and proud of me!

Great job Sam!!! That's awesome!!
My positive: I guess since I am trying so hard to lose weight, I am noticing other people's hard work more too. My friend who is doing the tri with me is noticeably looking like she is losing some weight, and I told her so on Sat as we were headed to our first open water swim (not such a success btw), and she was extremely pumped. Also, my other friend who has been doing WW had some people over for lunch yesterday and I noticed that she looked like she had lost some weight and I told her so, and she was very pleased and told me that she had lost 10 lbs. So it was nice to make other people's day.

Liking all the positives, congrats, everyone.
My plus for today is that I, (much against my druthers), headed out into the cold rain to power-walk the pooch. Just when I got into it, (sorta), and started to warm up some, the sleet started, then came the hail and all I can say after THAT poop is thank the stars for MEC gear, as that blessed jacket and micro-fiber beret of mine kept me safe and dry from the wind-whipped March madness over here...
Dog is happy, curled up like a lil croissant.

Way to go Laura lol..what a temptation!
Rachel - I know the feeling regarding the pants slipping down thing!
Well I don't know if this is positive ...but at work, I was so busy getting into what I was doing that I didn't realise my pants slipping right down exposing my underwear LOL...((good thing I was the only one there at the time and wearing an apron))
SERIOUSLY need to find time to go shopping and find me some new temporary between sizes pants

I had a wicked workout today, (intense calisthenics followed by cardio, for an hour total), and not only did it cure the sniffies I woke up with, (along with a groinky-sounding voice), it lead me to lay down an IMPRESSIVE session in the studio, complete with editing done and I'm now in CHILL MODE for the rest of the day. Well, errand/dog/housework mode, but that pretty much is chillin' for me so...
Good onya, Kane, soon to be offya.
And Samantha, get yerself a belt girl! Or just invest in some sexy sarongs, theee perfect size-transition item, IMHO, and I like 'em with black leggings in the winter too.
