Edict No. 6 - Exercise done to please yourself is joy. It's like anything else you do that you really like to do. Physical activity is the same.

This is my favorite because....it just is!

Edict No. 1 - Exercise done badly works better than no exercise at all. Of course you are much better advised to learn good training and workout technique and I would most definitely urge you to do so in order to avoid injury. But assuming you don't do something too foolish, at least you have gotten off your butt.

I like that one, because I enjoy running, though I know i run badly. At least I'm off my rear.

cardio-so true-you cant do it for anyone else-or you shouldnt be doing it for anyone else. they say the best exercise is the one youll do! you dont need to have a reason curtis!( i dont know if what i wrote just made any sense sometimes i babble, so i apologize)

mikaela-i like that one too b/c i used to feel guilty if i moved but i didnt work hard but at least i was moving. i also just starting running and im not a runner myself but you have to start somewhere.

Thank you! That was a rewarding read

I like this one;

Edict No. 13 - Exercise done because you must builds discipline. There are times when you face an after-work training session and think, "I just can't do it today." Unless you are ill, don't give in to those feelings. Show up and get started. You will be surprised that you will probably have a better than normal workout. Add to that the fact that you didn't listen to that little voice. You did what you ought, and that sort of perseverance carries over to all things in life.

It feels great to just get into it and work out even when you didn't want to!

Edict No. 10 - Exercise done to start the day is enormous.

I never used to be a morning workout person. I couldn't understand how people could get up in the morning and actually do a workout. I even tried it a couple of times and felt like garbage. I couldn't get anything going and felt slow, weak, and blah.

About 3 years ago I promised myself that I would try it for three weeks and if I still hated it, I'd never have to try it again. After the first week it go better and by the end of the third week I was hooked.

Things I love about morning workouts now:

1. Gym is less crowded.
2. By 7:30 A.M. I'm already done with my workout and I've done more than most people even if I don't do anything for the rest of the day.
3. I can go straight home after work.
4. Flexible schedule. I can get up at 5, 5:30, 6:00 or 6:30 and still get some sort of workout in before work OR I can skip a workout and sleep until 7:30 OR I can get up early, skip a workout and go to work early and leave early. After-work scheduling is often hectic and lots of things compete for the time.
5. Trained me to get up early on the weekends too.
6. Racquet ball courts are always open.
7. My metabolism starts revving earlier

There's probably other things too.

I like Edict #10 too, though I'm still struggling to get back in that groove.

splint-im not a morning person but i tend to do my workouts in the morning and i love getting them done and "out of the way" and know that i have the rest of the day left. i too, like having an empty gym although i like seeing people around so i can see others toughing it out too.
