After a big weight loss you get these moments, normally an epiphany, where you realize all your hard work and sacrifice have finally paid off. I'll list mine and hopefully people can add theirs so others who are working hard can get a little motivation on the way.

Currently I'm fighting my third battle of the bulge so my moments are from previous times in my life where I lost 40+ pounds (and kept it off for several years).

--> Fitting into old clothes again, that just feels awesome.
--> Getting compliments on how I look.
--> Being able to play pick-up hockey after not having played for years.
--> Never having to worry about my shirt being too tight.
--> Never having to adjust my pants to hide my crack when I bend down.

My favourite moment was when my friends and I were discussing going on a trip to a tropical resort and everyone vowed they would lose weight to look good in their swimwear. My friends each set goals of between 20 and 40 pounds. I feigned feeling bad since I didn't really need to lose any weight but secretly I felt awesome because I could've gone on vacation the next day and look great in my swimwear.

What are your moments?

Most of my life I've been a 36" waist. I've gotten down to 34" beofre for a short time in college. When I started popping the seams of even my stretchy 36'ers, I decided it was time to stop being lazy and get in shape but to do it smartly so that it was a life long change and not a periodic diet adjustment.

Before I left for vacation in November I purchased a pair of regular fit 32" jeans that fit perfectly.

Today my problem is finding pants in the closet that don't make me look like MC Hammer. That's a much better problem than pants that are too tight.

thanks for sharing splint! you reminded me of another moment of accompishment-trying on a pair of pants from last year-and having them not only fit-but be a little loose!

That's awesome splint, I remember after a summer of big weight loss I was kind of sad to see my favourite pair of "fat" jeans go so I would sometimes wear them because they were soft like an old cotton shirt. I definitely had the MC hammer thing going with those.

Running accomplishments are great, last month I finally ran 10k (roughly 6 miles I think). I remember a time when I thought running was stupid and couldn't understand why people would essentially run nowhere. Next spring I'm going to try my first half marathon.

I'm still waiting to experience a big moment of accomplishment as far as fitness is concerned, and I'm anxious to get there!

You kidding CK!!??

You've already accomplished all you will ever need to. You have mastered your desire, set your intentions and made a commitment to be your best.

The rest is cream cheese!! The symptom of being mentally strong is the physique you are looking for. It's already yours and it is already coming.

Don't get caught up in the journey that you forget the bigger picture. What you see in the mirror is not a product of who you ARE, but from who you WERE. Living in the past is why people repeat the same mistakes over and over. Your future is ahead of you, as is the body of the REAL you.

Make sense?? I know what I'm trying to say.

I like that, Dean, and I like that what I see now in the mirror, (and more importantly how I feel now), has become what I planned on--and then some.

I am proud of all the work I've put in to get me here, and I'm digging the work that will take me even further.

Thanks Dean...

Although I was more referring to completing my 90 day challenge or conditioning myself to run my first straight mile as accomplishments. I'm excited about my 11 pounds so far though! WOO!

I never get tired of sharing this story:

After not seeing my gyno for about a year, I was bleeeowwwwn away when she walked up to me, hand extended and introduced herself!

At which point I actually had to say, "It's ME, Minu!" She cracked up giggling and immediately went into full, "way to go YOU gear".

GOOD TIMES, great memory.
