What a coward, posting through an anonymous profile. I hope that a higher power can help you find some peace. Anyone with enough anger to log onto a site and pick on people trying to encourage each other must have a very empty soul.
Is there a "spam/abuse" function on these posts?

I started on a serious weight loss program in September of 2006. My starting weight was 242 pounds. I'm 5' 5" tall. My current weight is 180 pounds. I was determined to do it on my own - no paid programs, pills, etc. My goal is to be 165. As of 12/1/07 - I've met my goal of 165!. Now for 2008 I'm going to focus on maintaining. Any additional lost pounds will be a bonus.
New Year and I've decided to set a new goal. I'm striving for 145 pounds. 1/30/08 - down 5 pounds....

I love to eat. Carbs is my weakness link that I always lose control in front of it.
I started running for fitness in 2007. Ever since I finished the 1st marathon (San Diego RnR 2007), I am addicted to running.
I started traineoing in Nov 2007. I have reached my goal weight in Jun 08 already. But, now, I don't care much about my weight. I care about it only if it affects my running performance.

I am glad that this "Traineo Sucks" has been removed. I think s/he is jealous that we are so supportive to each other. What a coward!
Amy S, I am glad that you like to join. Dean, I think I have 4 to 5 US traino pals in US team already.
Jennifer, it seems you are interested also. It will be easier to use Nike+ and ipod. But, I am not sure if everybody is willing to invest to those devices yet. Let me think about it. After my 1st marathon, I will come up with a solid challenge plan.
Dean, remember your topic of "Hold me Accountable"... Of course, I will not forget our challenge. We are holding each other accountable, right? Look like I have a few trianeo pals in my US team already. After I finish my 1st 2008 marathon (Jan 10), it should be time for us to challenge. Have your ankle healed? Will you be ready and have enough UK traineo pals then?
BTW, I totally agree with you. Goal without action plan means nothing. I need to carefully think it before setting my goals too high.

Better get that team together fast!! My ankle is slowly getting better. I don't have all the movement yet and am only managing 10 minute miles which sucks a bit.
Let me know what, where and when this challenge is and I'll raise the 'Warriors' to compete.
(The Warriors is a group formed from my training courses. We keep in contact and take eachother to new levels of fitness. It is a very small group at the moment, but as soon as the pilot bootcamp goes smooth in Aug 2008, maybe we'll start another recruitment drive. It's all good fun.)

I have started two new blogs, one to follow my running and a Quest to a Marathon at blog.262quest.com and one to follow my weight loss at blog.2big.org, please check them out.
I am an IT professional / Developer which means I sit in front of a computer most of the day. This means very little exercise and plenty of time to eat.
I decided at the first of the year that I was going to lose weight. I started by changing my eating habits and started walking.
I did so for about a month and then added some weight lifting and started to run a little bit.
I have so far lost 29 lbs in just over 3 months and would like to lose just over another 50 lbs by the end of the year.
I have started running quite a bit more and am training to run the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta on July 4th (10k)
I need all the encouragement I can get because to do this I am getting up every morning during the week at 4:30 to go running. With a wife and kids this is really the only time that I can consistently do what I need to do.
I am driven, but at times get a bit discouraged because I don't have anybody to work out with or run with.
All in All, I know I can do it, I just have to remember that when I don't do so well, it is in the past and what matters is going forward.

Not sure if I will be much of an asset, but I would join that team..... for the US side of course My neighbors are from Dean's neck of the woods and we always have a little competition going.... I got them into running, and they are faster then me, but I can go further!
Count me in if you need someone to keep an eye out in the back of the pack!

o Understand my mind and actions more.
o Try to stay focused regardless of weekly outcome...try try try again.
o Try to put into practice that there is NO failure...only outcome (Dr. Dyer)
o Really, really, really try to not get discouraged at the scale and furthmore, not look at it as a sole indicator of my progress.
o To finish my Masters in August 08
o Move to a different city
o Get a better job by my definition (more challenge, opportunity, less travel, more $ and bonus)

My goals are pretty basic, but still goals none the less. Basic in that they are not really specific, not that they are easy.
Not completely in order...
1. Run a Half Marathon in less then 2 hours - (Scheduled for Feb 17th)
2. Run a Full Marathon - (not sure when yet or time goal yet)
3. Lose the last 20 lbs to get myself down to 160.
4. Successfully transition to maintenance - funny but this is what I am worried about most.
5. Continue to tweak my diet to make it healthier.
6. Step it up a notch in weight training and all around toning. (this and the lose the last 20 may conflict - if so this one is more important)
oh yea - beat Dean in the challenge. And my neighbors in one race. Down with the UK. In all seriousness I have learned to enjoy living next door to a British family - I have learned a lot and we both get a lot of laughs from our quirkiness when it comes to different things. We are running an 8k together this Saturday, I am sure they will beat me, but I have been making strides to be faster. I am hoping for a time in the low 40's. I know I can do it if I put my mind to it, I did 4 miles this morning in 36, and 5 miles on Tuesday morning in 46.
OK, I know - I am rambling, I will stop now.... it is sooooo fun to talk about myself

A few ups and downs with the weight lately. Losing those last 10 lbs again now. Revised fitness plan: -some cardio EVERY day for a month to remove the revenge of the hip fat -some weight training, some pilates -I love biking and lots of fun summer sports! That's what it's all about-good times!
I will eat healthy foods and let my body weigh what it wants to weigh. I concentrate on whole grains, lean proteins, fruits and veggies, and I will eat delicious chocolate when I want to! Guilt has been removed from my vocabulary.
The wave of passion can be an unstoppable force.

Gloria, that is awesome, I hope to be there some day. You'll have to tell us all about it. A half marathon sounds like enough of a challenge for me right now. You should start a group here!
Tim, those are great goals and super running progress! I'm jealous...I mean, the good kind of jealous...the kind that inspires me to want to do more and get better!

Cardio - you can do it, just take it a little at a time - 100 yards at a time and you will be amazed how soon you will be there.
Dean - glad to hear the ankle is getting better. I have made a lot of progress lately, so as long as that continues you may have a good competition!

I really like this! There have been many times in the past where I had given up on my efforts due to the fact I thought I had "failed" and could never get healthier, but in all actuality, it is not really about failing, more about the outcome-you choose not to do A, B and C, you don't get what you want and that is the ultimate outcome. You didn't FAIL, you CHOSE not to. What a great perspective.

Thanks Tim.
I might be able to do it now, just not on asphalt. It's killer on my knees and feet. But I'll give a go on the treadmill and see how far I can run. I can do a half mile, so I don't have much further to go. Once I can do a mile, I'll concentrate on improving my time. I'd love to be able to run a 10 minute mile and work from there

Life is a game Jess, and the only way you can fail this game is to give up.
'You don't lose for going down, you lose for staying down'
Yeah, this journey has only just begun so how can you possibly know the overall score yet, we're all stood on the starting line together.
Am reading a business book at the moment and one of the analogies is that we don't end with wealth, we begin with wealth. You see tomorrow, is a product of today, so today we must be Kings and Queens of our destiny. Don't wait till tomorrow.
Tim - am loving the banter, this run is gonna be real fun. Keep up the progress and we really will have a tight race on our hands!! I'm also trying to drop poundage. I'm 179 and my target is 160 too. Perhaps we could do that as a race as well?
CK - You the man!! I love your commitment, it makes me almost shed a tear!! You are a true advocate of live to the full today and don't wait till tomorrow. I know you'll hit your goals and I can't wait to say congrats cos you already deserve it!!

Great! A lot of us are into this US vs UK running challenge. We are going to do it. Dean, I will chat with you via email to see how we can keep the running data for both teams.
Meanwhile, US pals, let's show the British our strength!
I will report to everybody my marathon result. It is on Jan 20 in the beautiful city of Carlsbad, CA(http://www.carlsbadmarathon.com/Home_28.htm). The course is not easy. There are a few killer slopes. The one at mile 8 is the worst. But, quite a few miles are along the Pacific Ocean. I am very excited and looking forward for it.

I just completed my second Half Ironman and hit my target of Sub 6 hours. Currently training for a Half Marathon (everything in halves) and then a tougher Half Ironman in December. I am wasting a lot of energy on these races carrying excess fat around the course. I know I would be faster if I was lighter. I have lost about 20lbs in last two years but still have maybe another 10 that could go.

Can I join this running challenge? How does it work? I'm a Pom living in NZ but I'd like to run for the UK
