Which gym is it that give you free stuff?

I go to Maveriks gym. They usually have free stuff, like whey protein bags, cologne/perfume samples (Georgio Armani was the last one I took like 12 of them, I know the workers so they don't care lol) and sandwiches and Accelerade ect.

Dean, I am glad that your ankle is healing and you have run 2 miles today. Remember our challenge! I better get speed trained soon and be ready to challenge you.

I am very exciting to find some of you are interested into running also. It is very joyful.

I love outdoor running more then gym treadmill running also. The treadmill may provide easy adjustment in speed/inclination. But, the the birds, the blue sky, the smell of grass, the breeze,...I can't have them in the gym. Those make running so enjoyable.

And, to me, working outdoor has higher chance to achive fitness goal. When I run, I usually plan a route. If my mind is weak and start trying to give up, I have to think about how to go home faster/shorter. I may end up finishing the route since it may be the shorter/faster to reach home. Even if I want to just turn back, I have at least doubling what I have run. Versus running in a treadmill, all I need is to push the stop button. Then, I fail my fitness goal.

Curtis, giving time, you can run easier and better little by little, just like jennifer said.

I also agree with Dean that jennifer is an excellent motivator. She is very caring and very supportive.

What I love about my gym:
- it's very cheap (compared to other gyms around here), 17 Euro per month (~ 25 USD)
- it's open 24 hours around the clock
- it has competent trainers, who are also fit without exceptions
- "fitness channel" - they are showing different sports (like climbing, running, skating, ...) and extreme sports on that channel, which sometimes can give a bit of extra motivation; also every few minutes they show hints on exercise and eating

Overweight trainers appear sort of implausible to me. ^^

I used to go to Planet Fitness, good prices! Cardio Express is more convenient now... Almost talked myself out of going tonight; we'll have none of that!

I like getting out of my car to go into the gym and hearing the music from the speakers outside the gym. It helps get me pumped up.

I also like the cardio theater at my gym. They usually play action movies. The motiviation provided is two fold. 1) The actors/actresses are in great shape. 2) When running on the treadmill, you feel like you are actually in one of the chase scenes.

Hmm maybe they can hire a dog or lion or something to chase you while your on the treadmill... that would be some HIIT cardio

Since I started going to the gym, I get to see my dad a lot more (because he takes me then we grab dinner before he drops me back off at my mom's place). I've also felt happier, and we've gotten along so much better.

I also like that occasionally I see someone from school or someone around my age following their parent around trying to get a good workout. It's nice to see that I'm not the only fitness-conscious teen (though I usually only see 2 or 3 other people at my gym).

And I don't pay for my membership.

Curtis, if I were you i'd get a referral from your doctor to a good podiatrist (foot dr.) and get some custom orthotics. When i was younger, around 15, I had lower back pain for no reason, and getting custom orthotics fixed that. Also, with orthotics that fit your feet, you can slip them into most shoes so that you have enough support, without having to be un-fashionable.

My favorite part about the gym is the swimming pool. I've got good memories of going swimming with my family when I was younger, so it's always nice to just get away sometimes (while i'm exercising!).
