It's all too true, Jennifer! My experience suggests that there's a narrow window for good, sustained weight loss, and that it's easy to step out of it.

I just tell myself that slow and steady wins the race.

If you grow to love the journey, you'll never notice the plateau's

Good read, thanks! And, Dean; while I very much love the journey, when you have a lot of weight to lose, a lot of your goals/checkpoints do revolve around that "number". I have goals that aren't related to weight as well, but it is a consistent metric for me and I would like to see it moving down more

Good stuff here.

I've plateaued (sp?) but my problem is that I've all but stopped the healthy part. My trips to the gym have stopped and my diet isn't as good as it was when I started.

I am still not as bad as I was and I'm digligent about what I'm eating now so that I at least don't regress.

glad you liked dave!
rick-glad you are eating well now. what are your plans for the gym looking like for this week? let us know. make a commitment here. im committing to 1 hour of cardio in my zone tomorrow and 1 hour with the trainer w/o taking a zillion water breaks and tissue breaks (he complained to me about this last time-lol)

I'm with you on wanting to see it move down more (and more quickly!). It's taken me a year to lose 40 pounds, and it'll easily be another year or two before I reach my optimal weight. That's a long road.

I never set my goal more than a couple of months ahead of me, though. I focus on getting to the next milestone, and, as Dean said, on the journey as a whole. I'm setting habits now that should set me in good stead.

wow Idon't know if that article is right or I just have an amazing metabolism but according to it, my daily caloric intake should be 1118 calories, and I should be ating 500-700 less to lose weight and stuff. I know this is a general number but I'm way off that number.

I give myself 1950 for maintenance and I usually get to 1500-1700 normally and sometimes have 2000+ days and I've been losing fine. I know this works for me but man those numbers seem way to low! or maybe I have more muscle than I think too..
