Every now and then Bally e-mails me tips labeled as "Positive Momentum" and I thought I'd share them with everyone. Here's today's tip.

"Don't be your own barrier to losing weight. Talk to yourself in a positive manner and recognize accomplishments at every step along the way. Even if you have a long way to go, realize that you have come a long way already. For many people, just making the commitment to losing weight andn taking the initial steps can seem insurmountable. You have already accomplished a lot. Keep up the great work!"

Hope these words help inspire someone!

Today's Tip (this one really hits close to home for me):
"People who have successfully lost weight tell us they visualized what they thought they would look like at several points between their starting weight and their goal weight. Give it a try, if your goal is to lose 40 pounds, try visualizing what you would look like at weight loss increments of ten pounds. Make sure to visualize what you'll wear and even how you'll wear your hair. Have fun with it."

Today's tip:
"Having trouble staying on track with your eating and exercise plans because of your family obligations? This is one of the most common obstacles to weight loss. However it is surmountable. In fact, many parents who have effectively overcome this obstacle tell us they stopped trying to get away from their family to lose weight and started including their family in ther weight loss. They did more active things with their kids and prepared healthier recipes for the family."

Today's Tip:
"Recognize your positive qualities today. Think of 10 words that describe your strongest positive qualities. For example, are you helpful, practical, sensible, faithful, competent, witty or compassionate? Write them down on a 2 x 3-inch piece of paper. Keep this piece of paper with you in your wallet, on your desk or in the glove compartment to remind yourself daily of your positive attributes."

The Biggest Loser motivates me a lot.

Seriously, good reality tv, changes in people's lives, positive life changing show. And somehow they manage to make me cry every episode pfttt

always keeps my spirit high.

Today's Tip (mostly everyone should be able to relate to this):

"It's likely that the scale will not always move in the right direction. However, this doesn't mean you have to give up and return to your old ways. Make a list of all the positive things you're doing now. Then make a list of ways you could gauge your progress other than your weight. Have your body fat measured. You could be decreasing body fat even though you are not seeing big changes on the scale. And remember that increased energy and sense of well-being is also progress."

Today's Tip:

"I could lose weight if my friends and family would stop forcing me to eat their cookies and fattening dishes. We've all said this! Sure, it's true that your friends and family can present an obstacle to your success, however it's up to you to respond in a manner that will keep you on track. It's unlikely your friends and family are deliberately trying to sabotage your efforts, so say no thank you and explain that if you have one you'll have several becase their foods are too good."

Today's Tip:

"Do you feel like you're progressing too slowly and on the verge of going in reverse? Be patient. Your weight did not increase all at once! In fact for many people, weight can creep up so slowly that it catches them off guard when their pants no longer fit. This is usually due to minor, often unconscious changes in eating or activity levels. Thus, it's going to take some time to take the weight off. Let yourself know that small steps, along with a positive attitude, will get you to your goal."

Splint, I still love that picture you sent. I'm gonna print it out put it up at my desk. It is a little disturbing to see how many bad habits I harbor...but at least I recognize them and can start back on the path of SUCCESS

Today's Tip:

"Do you lack confidence in losing weight and keeping it off this time, just because you couldn't do it last time? If so, then you're not alone. Many people dwell on previous weight loss failures. However, is it possible that you didn't fail, but the previous programs failed you? All too often weight loss programs are not practical and cannot be sustained indefinitely. So don't let the failings of other weight loss programs rock your confidence! Rock on with what works for you!"

"Have you gotten off track with your meal plan and exercise? Do you find that there is no time for it? Don't beat yourself up about it. It's never too late to start over. Healthy changes only take little steps. Start today by choosing a healthy lunch and going for a walk right after work. Keep it up tomorrow and before you know it, you will be feeling good again!"
