About me: --------------------------- I'm an architecture student at a great school.
After trial and error, managed to shed the pounds for real.
What I'm doing: --------------------------- Portion control still a problem. HIIT 2x/week Starting weights 1x/week
I take stairs over escalator and elevator ALL THE TIME (I climb 6 sets of stairs minimum for the day at the metro 2-3floors?).
Extra note: --------------------------- I finally understand what being fit means! And I actually love running now thanks to HIIT.
Goal: lose the belly fat! My problem area. First goal: 120lbs - MET 2nd goal: 116lbs - MET 3rd goal: 112lbs ish with more muscle definition
Realizing I can't change the way my body stores fat and have a noticeable belly during the day (pic was morning with light breakfast after workout) I will work on making a stronger core to counter the pooch a bit
Dropped 1 pant size since last year (stable weight) Dropped 2 pant sizes since mid-Summer after Greece (pastries=weight gain)

Quoting: McPhilly As a cyclist, I thought I was going to use the exercise bikes
I wouldn't call myself a cyclist but during Summer, I biked every single day for 1-2 hours a day at an avg HR of 85% and only skipped once in a month and a half.
But I find myself loving running. Too bad for the joints, I can feel them getting a bee wit weaker so I started running on the grass. The bumpiness is bound to get my ankle sprained soon, I feel my clumsiness coming..

Quoting: malibublue I am lucky to be in California that the winter is not too bad for outdoor exercises.
ya I sorta envy you, you get to swim (which I LOVE) a lot, go surfing (which I want to try) and run pretty much all year round.
Easier to find something you like and stick to it, and get a routine. It's harder to quit.
I'm really scared for winter time. I might do some boring programs on the elleptical (but I usually find myself bored and leaning on the machine cuz I'm not pushing myself, not into it) and weights and hopefully when the weaterh will allow it, will be able to pick it up again, and quickly.
On the upside, we get snow which means.. snowboarding time!!!! can't wait. And sugar shacking and snowball fights.. yay! Only 2 weeks vacation to do that

I love to eat. Carbs is my weakness link that I always lose control in front of it.
I started running for fitness in 2007. Ever since I finished the 1st marathon (San Diego RnR 2007), I am addicted to running.
I started traineoing in Nov 2007. I have reached my goal weight in Jun 08 already. But, now, I don't care much about my weight. I care about it only if it affects my running performance.

Where are you, Jessipoo? Snowboard is a great workout also. It seems fun. I have never tried it though.
The only problem in California is the daylight time change. It makes the day shorter. Sometimes, if I miss my morning run, I wish to make it up in the evening after work. But, it is just too dark to run in the evening.

I live in Montreal. Iknow this is terrible to say on a weight loss site... but the food here is amazing, you should come over and try!
1.5-2 hour drive to most of the big slopes outside of the city.
It's deadly to drive back after you snowboard all day. I put in the info once on Traineo for fun. I went for 5 hours or so (evening) put only put in 2 hours because I considered the times I wasn't moving or on the lift, and it gave me something ridiculously huge like 600 cals an hour!!
It's a killer for you quads. The next day you're so soard >_< but if you want to do a crazy cottage party and eat bad foods and drink like there's no tomorrow, you don't have to feel guilty cuz you know you will burn it off!

I'm basically trying to get in shape and be healthy...
diaryofthefatman.blogspot.com
I like participating in sports but I want to be more competitive. Also I'm with Kevin Spacey from American Beauty - good reason :)
I'm looking to lose about a hundred lbs in the course of a year, and basically to just consistently get better. And I love comments and messages, so keep 'em coming!
I talk about goal setting a lot, how about I actually set some?
Well it's time to revisit goals... I didn't do too well with my end of year plans, but learned some things and changed my plans up a bit as I went along. During the 5-7 weeks of the year, I was able to put on about 8-10lbs of muscle, and stay at the same actual weight. The plan is to start the Strong Lifts 5X5 program to supplement the Couch to 5K program, and that should last the next 8-12 weeks.
I'm updating goals as well. Lowering cholesterol remains a goal, and I'll find out about that at the end of August.
Been bouncing around a bit, but getting a little stricter again and will monitor that over the next 3-4 weeks. I feel poised to really lose some weight again, so I'm looking forward to the healthy eating and additional exercise.

Ooh, I love Montreal (and I'm not even a skier/snowboarder)! I might try to get into snowboarding this year... Perhaps losing more weight will make me more graceful? Next year is for running - I'm doing the Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society and this year ('08) I want to run my laps instead of the usual walking.

Haha nope! that'll never happen. When you fall into fresh powder with a snowboard strapped on, it takes a good 30 minutes to get out. I'm exaggerating, but hardly. I got stuck once for a while, was cold.
Especially if you start, get ready to fall on your butt! will hurt like crazy the next day, couldn't walk! But it's sooooooo fun!! Snow fell today, I wanted to grab my snowpants or something. Means I can't run tomorrow though

That sounds cool! I can ski, never snowboard. I really like to try. But, I think I may be too old for it. Last year, I went to one of the local ski site. Most of the people were snowboading. They were all young and energtic. I was one of the small amount of skier. I felt even older.

I can understand that. Great food in Montreal everywhere. I love the French pastry there.
