After many years of bad portion control, bad diet and sitting in front of way too many computer screens, I have hit and gone over the magic age of 40. Funny how doing that will cause one to re-address their health.

My prize when I reach my goal.
Not to mention my health improvements, my wife and kid's support.

Mathematics graduate, looking for direction in life... I think I've got it now.
I love cycling and am pretty good. However, with a heavy heart, I've had to swallow my pride and accept that I'm just too old to realise my aspirations of the professional ranks. My backup plan is to become a cioccolatere (in Italia)... So I'll be keeping my cycling-up, to avoid the consequences of a sweet-tooth! After all, I still have it in me to get into the upper echelons of the amateur ranks.

I'm a typical stress eater, and I've been extremely stressed out for the past two years. Yeah, recipe for disaster! I can't say I look too bad, and the 22 fat kilos I want to lose to get back to my original weight do make me more curvaceous, but let's face it - it's just not who I am. To feel comfortable again, I definitely want to lose those extra kilos!
I'm mainly using Traineo to get some feedback, and to be able to keep track of my exercise. I only use the diet log sporadically, as the food itself isn't really my problem, but rather my notion of food as something that reduces stress.

Gadget porn is great, but I want to fit into my $1500, favourite YSL dress again. And I will!

I think you should splurge, get the bike, and let that help you reach your goal! Unless it's snowing there.... ;)

I'm already motivated to keep going, all my old shirts are fitting again. I haven't worn some of these in over a year and a half!

The clothes are really doing it for me, I guess. I mean, I can go out and buy a new bike, or a DVD box or a computer game any day... but fitting into all those wonderful favourite clothes? Not unless I lose this weight. I can't say I feel less attractive (I mean - the boobage is fantastic!) but I MISS MY CLOTHES!!!
I just try to remember that overeating because of stress is NOT a treat, it's more like the opposite - and I do want to treat myself, so why overeat?

Well, I would, but I made a deal with the wife, no new bikes until I reach my goal. She has a issue with spending more on a bike that some people spend on their cars. I can't blame her though. By the way, no snow in Jacksonville, Florida since 1989. To many bridges and the St. John's River that cuts the city in half so snow tends to really screw things up here.

Imagine a world where everyone spends more on bicycles than cars. What a great place, eh? My motivation: I went to my doctor and she told me I need to lose weight and lower my cholesterol. I was scheduled to go back for follow up in 8 weeks. This inspired me to create a blog at Flickr called '8 Weeks to Live' (See http://flickr.com/photos/papernapkin/sets/72157594 282401468/) The idea is to photograph myself regularly along with everything I eat and charts of my weight and running progress.

Good answer, Mark. It's weird, but sometimes if people know I'm on a diet they try to sabatoge my efforts in the guise of friendliness, 'Oh, go on have one doughnut.' If it comes up--'You want anything from In-and-Out Burger?'--I say, 'No thanks. I'm in training.' Somehow, training is more acceptable than dieting.'

My roommate inspires me. She's so tiny, she can wear anything she wants, and it looks great. I keep giving her the clothes that don't fit me anymore. It hurts to do, but when I lose another 10 or 15 lbs, I'll be able to get them back... or, even better, buy some new ones!

I've been into health and fitness seriously since January of 2006. I played college football, so I've always been into weight training, but only recently have I really started trying to eat healthy and exercise regularly for my own personal fitness.
Feel free to send me an email or comment. I need a motivator or two!

Amen to that. I'm headed to Cancun with my wife and her family in March. Hopefully I won't even want to pack a shirt!
A family history of diabetes and high blood pressure are far more motivating than a bunch of sand and water, though.
Plus, my Dad said I'd never have a 6-pack. "It's not genetically possible". Yea, right . . . Last time I checked I was human, which makes it genetically possible.

I'm a 23 year old FFB (former fat boy). I'm a grad student at the Univ. of Phoenix. I was married on June 1st, 2007 by a wonderful supportive woman.
I have always been the fat kid so now I've changed that. I started at 305. I lost 80 pounds and was at 225 after I was sick. From Jan 07 to Apr 07, I put on 25 pounds. I then started to lose weight again, but started doing it the right way. I am now 235 and leaner than I was at 225. I'm going to see how close I can get to a 6 pack, but eventually I'll start trying to put on some muscle. Then lean out again.
Six-Pack would be awesome, I've never had one of those. So we'll see. (my photo is me at 305lbs. when i get a good pic of me now at my current weight, i'll post it)

That's what my family says, no one in our family has a six pack, no one blablahblahblah...I'm with you dude...and then when you have one and you rip your shirt off "Hogan" style, then you'll show them, hehe.
