Hello everybody! I joined this site yesterday on my 20th birthday =)

Anyway, i'm just curious for all those people that workout or run with their ipods....what do you listen to that gets you motivated and pumped up to keep going?

my favorite song to work out to on my playlist is "This is why i'm hot" by Mims, and i'm looking to add others

any suggestions?

The Rocky IV soundtrack is always gets me super pumped up.
Some others are:
* Jesus Walks With Me by Kanye West
* Lose Yourself by Eminem
* Living on a Prayer by BonJovi
* The Instrumental Theme from Top Gun

There are many more, but I am sure that others will give you great ideas too.

I listen to a LOT of Ac/Dc, Metallica, Pantera, and Deftones.

The driving tempos and nearly overflowing testosterone really helps keep me going.

Either hard rock, alternative or dance. Something upbeat definitely. Happy birthday by the way!

Hard Rock mostly, but I also have some Rap and Hip-Hop on my iPod. I must have loud, fast, hard music for cardio, while my trainer listens to reggae.

Happy Birthday, Edmund!

I just posted about this yesterday in the Train(eo)ing with Music Group. I love the workout mixes put out by DJSteveboy at the Podrunner site. I like to run right around 160 beats per minutes, so it's nice to have a pre-made mix I can use for that.

On a serious note, I listen to a mixture of metal and love songs. The metal pumps you up and the love songs give you some weird type of energy

I work in a music store and you would be surprised in the number of women who come in to buy Metal for there workouts...Slayer may be a bit extreme for most...A lot of people like metal compliations like the Sony Gold series or the headbanger's ball series from MTV.A couple others are a collection called Metal gods (a 3 disc set I think mostly 80's stuff) and the soundtrack to a headbanger's journey.

If Metal is not your thing people also love the Muchmusic Dance and Big Shiney tunes series...those are the Canadain versions I am sure MTV does the same thing basically upbeat top forty stuff. They do have that huge teen starlet song on them...ie Britney, Avril etc but the also put on some hard rock or electronica stuff on them as well.

If top forty is not your thing either people like the ThriveMix series, these are alittle more hardcore electronica stuff that you might hear at a rave.

Hope this helps a bit.

Chris

Hey. I don't know if you like Modest Mouse, but I love to work out to them, especially tracks like "Float On", "Ocean Breathes Salty", and "Trucker's Atlas." I think it's a combination of the drums the loud guitar and the angry yelling that makes it really easy to work out to. Also, the 311 Greatest Hits CD is another good one. As are some songs on the Police Greatest Hits, like " So Lonely", "Message in a Bottle", and "Don't Stand So Close To Me"

I forgot to mention, since your a hip-hop fan, that Kanye West is also a good choice. "Jesus Walks", "Touch the Sky", and "Can't Tell Me Nothing" are probably my favorites to listen to while working out.

I agree with Cindy N, DJSteveboy does an awesome job with this PodRunner Podcast. I also listen too a few other podcasts while working out too. There are a ton of fitness podcasts out there and TONS of music podcasts. Why limit yourself to just a set playlist when you can have a dynamic list of music delivered straight to your mp3 player weekly or even daily depending on the podcast.

9 times outta 10, I listen to Funk, 'cause-----------IT'S FUNKY! <--on the machine at home that is. It's the only kinda music that takes control of my hips and I dance with no opinion of my own.

But when I'm out walking or jogging, I never use a headset. I tend to hit the secluded paths a lot and I have a lil too much of an, "on guard" mentality for that kind of sensory deprivation.

I can't listen to anything too slow while I'm working out. I need some thing upbeat to keep me going.

Music annoys me. Especially when I work out because the few songs I like I fairly slow and tend to slow me down instead of energize me.

Anything by Ministry of Sound gets me going. Mostly dance/electronic music. Sometimes rock music.

I'm mainly into hip-hop but I need upbeat music when I'm running. If you guys are like me, you get tired of the same old stuff, so hopefully you check out the stuff in my list and find some new favorites. If nothing else, look up Mint Royale, Basement Jaxx, and Fatboy Slim. Here's a list of some of my favorites:

Fatboy Slim - Renegade Master (Fatboy Slim Old School Mix)
Fatboy Slim - DeafMicksThrowdown
Fatboy Slim - Apache
Basement Jaxx - Lucky Star
Basement Jaxx - Do Your Thing
Mint Royale - Rock and Roll Bar (or anything from On the Ropes)
Mr. Scruff - Sweet Smoke
Tower of Power - I Like Your Style
Rage Against the Machine - Renegades of Funk

Some Hip-Hop that works really well:
Giant Panda - Racist
Mark Ronson - God Put a Smile (his 1st CD is great too)
M-Flo ft. Ugly Duckling - Get On! (Ugly Dumpling Remix)

I should clarify, when I'm out in the woods, walking and jogging, it's NO music, I only use music when on the machine in the basement.

And not all my music is from the 70's, I also very much dig Michael Franti and Spearhead. Such positive, energized, groovin' stuff.

Usually I like to listen to Hip hop throughout the day, but when it comes to working out I try to stick to music that is only instrumental. So this would include some techno and/or club music.

i find myself with the same gym mix for my runs..
underclass hero-sum 41
stronger-kayne west (something about faster stronger makes us better and what don't kill me only makes me stronger really keeps me going)
alice mae-samuel L. Jackson (black snake moan)
party like a rockstar-shop boyz
oh timbabland-timbabland
chop me up-justin timberlake
small stakes-spoon
in the morning of the magicians-the flaming lips
the way i are-timbaland

i have to say, if you like beats and hip hop timbaland is def. the way to go.

This is good, I've had a great time trying out some of your suggestions. I really only listen to the hip hop/rap-type stuff while working out, keeps me going, I guess. Some of my current faves are:

Ten Thousand Fists-Disturbed
Remember the Name-Fort Minor
To Be Loved & Last Resort-Papa Roach
My Way-Limp Bizkit
It's Goin' Down-Young Jeezy
Till I Collapse-Eminem
Somewhere I Belong, Bleed It Out(this makes me run FAST)-Linkin Park
Headstrong-Trapt

I am a hard rockin' mom, I should probably settle down, but what fun is that?!

I like epic metal to go with my exercise routines. . . With Dragonforce I find I have to do everything within my power to not try and match my running with the speed of their guitars.

but other than that everything from the fastest of the Decemberists songs to the slowest of X-Japan. From Iron Maiden to Weezer.

Dragonforce.. thats awesome.

Actually, I try to never listen to the same thing for more than a couple days. New and exciting music gives me even more to be paying attention to and the time flys by.
