I have some tips I wanted to share incase some people are in a rut, bored with their workouts, or who can't get into working out. OKAY--exercise may not be the most exciting thing in the world for some people. All you do is look at those "gym rats" and wonder "what's so great about it?". Well, for one the endorphine surge you get afterwards is AWESOME! Another plus is a healthy, strong and fit body. That's always key! But if you're still not that convinced exercise is for you & that diet pills, powders and potions are more your ally---LET ME TELL YOU! Those stupids quick fixes may actually put you in a WORSE fitness level than before you started. They may actually lower your metabolism, come with crazy side effects and just plain NOT WORK! Here's some tips to get you in the gym, or outside working out the "old fashioned" way.
(1) When running or on the stationary bike, carry an IPOD or MP3 player with you. Music can be a great motivator to keep trying. Load it up with your favorite tunes or motivational words/songs. Try not to have earbuds in when riding a mountain bike in the road---don't wanna get hit!!
(2) Look for a "fit buddy"--someone who's gonna be right beside you when it's time to burn those calories. If you even think about giving up, they'll be right there to "slap" you across the face and snap you out of it!! Make sure they are next to you to help you and not critique you!! Make sure if you really need to vent your frustrations, you can cry on their shoulder without them blowing you off or making you "suck it up!".
(3) Get outside! You don't necessarily need to sign up for a gym membership when the world is your playground!! Save some money and ride your bike with your kids, friends, neighbors or whomever! Play some basketball. Go walking in the evening. Enjoy the beautiful trees, cool breeze and fresh air. You could workout in the house--but with that comfy sofa sitting right there, you'll be surprised at how tempted you are to sit on it and QUIT! Get away from the sofa and fridge! Pack plenty of water & healthy snacks like apples, grapes, carrots, crackers, etc.
See---exercising doesn't have to be such a chore or boring task. It can be fun. If anyone else has any other tips to making exericise fun & exciting for those who just arn't convinced or motivated, drop some tips!!
If anyone needs a motivator, I'm available! Living healthy keeps me in the best shape of my life! Less doctor visits, less sick days, less extra weight, more happy days, more energy, more fun, more living!!
