Hi,
I'm new to Traineo but I have tried quite a few methods to manage my body--without using my anorexic tendencies to win. Anyway, I watched one of my best friends use the genetix program since early May and she has lost 21 lbs and has been happy doing it! So, I decided to sign up yesterday. So, here is how it works...

1) When you sign up you are assigned to a medical doctor and his team which consists of people like personal trainers, nutrionists, etc...
2) Signing up goes like this: you pay a $200 deposit that you get back when you reach 80% of your goal. And you pay $100 a month until you reach your goal (mine is an estimated 2 months...my friends estimate was about 6months since she had more to lose). Once you reach your goal you can go on the maintenance program that costs $20 per month and never goes up (you can use this when you want to drop the extra 5 for a "picture event" or through a pregnancy, etc.)
3) The Program: Basically the team puts together your program and you talk to the doctor everyday and he/she tells you what to do. They monitor your weight and your bodily responses to different foods/exercises to find the optimum diet and exercise habits for you. They provide counseling for you as needed as well.

In my case, he said that I have the "right tools" (decent diet, exercise regimen, etc) but that I am not using it rightly to acheive my goals. For my friend he needed to do a complete overhaul of her lifestyle.

I thought the folks on here would be interested in this program so I am posting it FYI. --I don't work for genetix program and nobody asked me to post this...I just think it is a neat and effective program.

Not that the money credits are my main focus for posting this but if you do mention that you were referred by Dr. George's client Amber in Raleigh, NC then I will get a small credit to my account...I'm pretty broke so this would be helpful...I work for a small non-profit organization

If you don't mention my name...I still wish you all the best...the bottom line is...give it a try and take control of your health and acheive your goals!

If anyone is out there that can testify to this program please post your success

Blessings,
Amber

hey,

I've been on the genetix program for 6 months now and I've lost 88 lbs so far.

I've gone from 290 to 202 lbs. Just wanted to let you know

good luck, but you really don't need it.

Oh and I'm glad to hear that there are other doctors on the program besides Dr. Demedio and Dr. Semendy. I was beginning to think those were the only 2 doctors that made a difference.

Glad to hear from someone else from Genetix. Congrats on your weight loss! I had been trying to lose the same 12lbs or so for the past year or so and have been frustrated with myself so this is a healthy way for me to get to where I want to be--I really like Newcastle, red wine, and cheese and crackers...wasn't helping the waist line. Dr. George is keeping me in line and I feel really good too.

Since I started last week I've lost about 4lbs and my jog/walk time has gotten better so I'm syked to see some progress.

Well, it is pretty impressive to see that Dave lost 88 lbs in 6 months, I'd say that's quite commendable.

I guess I just see a lot of money being spent...I assume this is in addition to a gym membership you also have to pay for?

Amber, you shouldn't give up your beer, wine, and fatty stuff. Are they telling you to? If you eat rabbit food for the rest of your life how much fun is that? Contrary to popular belief, it is possible to eat and enjoy the things that you love. You can't cram them down your mouth at an unabashed rate, but I hate to see people all over this forum giving up everything under the guise of weight loss.

Adam:
As for the money...it costs less than 2 sessions with a trainer a month which is a reasonable amount to obtain a goal. Also, getting my deposit back is another motivating factor for me to reach the goal. I have fought anorexic tendencies since I was a teenager so I like the idea of being under the direction of a doctor to maintain my health while reaching the goal of what I want my body to look like.

I do have a gym membership which is only $25 per month and I live near a great jogging trail--paid for by my city taxes. I fight against a very demanding work schedule that makes going to the gym challenging sometimes--and when I go I don't have a lot of time. Managing diet is key for me in this season of life.

After reaching the goal it is $20 per month (optional) and if I ever have to use the program again...say after an injury that puts on weight or a pregnancy then the fee never goes up again. I don't think it is that expensive myself--most guys spend that in protein shakes and/or power bars in a month--I spend it to talk to a health professional.

The program is not restrictive at all. I love healthy foods so I don't feel deprived at all. As for the beer, wine and fatty foods... I get them but in moderation...like on the weekends or when I have excelled in diet and exercise.

I push myself in areas of life like work and intellectual pursuits but I am not a self motivator for exercise so it helps me in that aspect. The program is probably not for everyone but it does work for many which is a good thing in an obese nation.

I read some of your stuff earlier today and you seem very self motivated in this area and successful at it...so, kudos to you

I have been on the Genetix program for almost 3 years now and i love it.. I have had my ups and downs with it but am actually one of the success stories on there. however i did have a slip and now working hard to get it back off. My name is Lindsey and i went from 190-127 in like 6 months however i thought i could then do it by myself and gained back a good bit of my weight. i was back up to 157, but Thanks to Dr. George for never giving up on me i am back on the program and back down to 145. I must stay its a lot harder the second time, but i know it is well worth it. I would recommend it to everyone. My goal one day is to get down to my goal weight and actually work on the program to help others! Everyone you can do it!
