About me: --------------------------- I'm an architecture student at a great school.
After trial and error, managed to shed the pounds for real.
What I'm doing: --------------------------- Portion control still a problem. HIIT 2x/week Starting weights 1x/week
I take stairs over escalator and elevator ALL THE TIME (I climb 6 sets of stairs minimum for the day at the metro 2-3floors?).
Extra note: --------------------------- I finally understand what being fit means! And I actually love running now thanks to HIIT.
Goal: lose the belly fat! My problem area. First goal: 120lbs - MET 2nd goal: 116lbs - MET 3rd goal: 112lbs ish with more muscle definition
Realizing I can't change the way my body stores fat and have a noticeable belly during the day (pic was morning with light breakfast after workout) I will work on making a stronger core to counter the pooch a bit
Dropped 1 pant size since last year (stable weight) Dropped 2 pant sizes since mid-Summer after Greece (pastries=weight gain)

ya so.. I got stuck, I can't believe I could've hit a plateau after only a week or so, but I did, I'm changing my exercise routine but I've ate "normally" yesterday and today I am too just cuz I'm not motivated and not seeing results anymore, it's not going down even a little.
I gotta get back on the wagon, tomorrow!!!! any tips or answers?

oh I changed my diet to a more yoyo approach (1000 cals one day, 1400 the other...) and changed my cardio from aerobics to jogging
to switch it up and I'll keep that for a week and in the 3rd week I'm going to mix the cardios up

I originally weighed about 220, back in 2005. On a month long trip to India, I became a vegetarian, I started loosing weight and feeling better about everything, I then had more energy so I exercised more and more, then I got addicted to serotonin and to the energy level that I had.
After 6 months, I went back to eating some meat.
Now I want to loose more fat so that I can be faster in Cycling and Triathlons.
The best way to reduce weight on your bike is not the fancy equipment that weighs 5 grams less, it's removing a few pounds of extra flab :-)
First Olympic Tri scheduled end of June 2007. Half Ironman scheduled Mid September.

Plateau's are always hard, both physically and mentally.
Sometimes you HAVE to hit it though, you body has adapted to the new life-style, give it some time.
I aim at one pound a week, more that that and you may be prone to hitting yet another plateau.
Have you tried doing high intensity workouts (intervals), it's one way of boosting your metabolism for up to 24 hours.
Hope this helps!

Seems like a common solution for plateaus that I've read online is to increase your calorie intake for a few days. Try doing a 2000 calorie day. Either way it wont completely derail your weight loss, and may get your body back on track.
Try lifting some weights too. That might be a really good shock to your system hopefully triggering it to adapt.

I do weights and cardio all the time.
usually 2 days cardio, one day weights.
OR both in the same day.
like I said, I'm eating "normally" yesterday and today but surprisingly I was at about 1800 yesterday and today I have healthy lunches, supper and breakfast with unhealthy snacks and I'm still at about 1600... but tomorrow I will FORCE myself to go back down to 1000 calories.

and I've sort of been doing HIIT now, I'll jog for as long as I can (usually 3-5 minutes) and then walk for a minute or two, so I guess it's sort of HIIT but lower intensity overall, but it's the same idea.
hopefully it would work as HIIT?

80 POUNDS GONE!
I've gone from a size 20 to a 6 (and even sometimes a 4!) and I've never looked this good in my life! (22 years of being overweight, dontcha know)
I'm a dedicated South Beach girl with a newfound love for exercise.
I've given up white flour, white sugar, fast food, and who knows what else. But you'll never get my coffee away from me!!

I'm not sure you would know you were in a plateau after only a week. I mean... the body does some weird stuff - especially the female body. I know we're all "supposed" to aim for 1-2 pounds per week. But I've had weeks of .5 lost, weeks of none lost, and weeks where I lost close to four. The important thing is the average and the steady downward trend, in my opinion. One thing is sure - strange and mysterious are the ways of fluid and females. Are you sure you aren't just retaining some water?

Jessipoo, the same thing happened to me and I plateaued after 1 week of JUDDDDing... also being at that time of the month didn't help things either. But the important thing is to stick with it, because then I experienced a sudden drop. For the last 3 days now I've been on 123lbs and today is an Up Day.. So gonna do 40mins of aerobics to shake things up for the day. I am hoping to be 122 by Monday. It's slow and it's hard. Like you I would love to reach my goal in about a month, but I have a feeling it's not going to be that quick judging by how long it's taken me to lose 4lbs (roughly 3 weeks)... Just trying to keep my goal firmly in sight and work at it no matter how long it takes. Obviously I wish to be slim for the summer... but hey.. I'll take being slim for the winter or by Christmas too!

my appetite shrank actually cuz I was on a tight regimen for 10 days, dont' forget we're girls, we eat 1000 less than you guys everyday on a normal basis.
so if I eat 1000 one day, 1400 the next, I balance it out to 1200 a day plus my exercise, so it should speed me up like crazy, but I usually go over anywys but it's still really low but not low enough for me to go into starvation mode.. and I'm exercising everyday.

I am 34 years old, married and a father of a 2.5 year old. They are the motivators for me to reach my goal. I started the new journey on 8/21/06 @307 lbs and as of June '08, I have lost around 108 lbs. I have been able to keep 100 lb weight loss since Sept. '07. What keeps me on track is the Traineo community, vision of a healthy and fit future and the mini-goals below. *GOAL 1 = 244 lbs, Date = 2/15/07 Date Met = 2/7/07 *GOAL 2 = 229 lbs, Date = 3/22/07 Date Met = 3/30/07 ________________________ *GOAL 3 = 199 lbs, Date = 6/30/08 Date Met = 6/5/08 *GOAL 4 = 185 lbs, Date = 09/30/08 Date Met = TBD (185 is my "ultimate" goal. Then build muscle.)

Plateaus don't happen in a week. Plateaus are something where your weight does not change at all or barely over several weeks.
