Okay, on to diet number 5! This month: Neanderthin.
Previous loses are as follows: January, G I Lean ( 4.3kgs ); February, The Hacker's Diet ( 4.5kgs ); March, Johnson UpDayDownDay Diet ( 2.1kgs ); April, YOU: On A Diet ( 700g).
It seems all these diet switches are working. It appeals to my desire for novelty and means I can try diets I never would consider for the long-term. That, and I get to play around collecting data in spreadsheets - always a good thing if you need some work avoidance. Honestly, this is quite fun.

All around me people are falling prey to a nasty type of gastric flu ... and yesterday afternoon I started feeling rather dreadful. It's not too bad yet but I'm very worried about what effect this will have on my new improved lifestyle. People have been bedridden for a week or more with this.
Illness has been my downfall before. I start eating the wrong things: bread is bland and easy to digest and I don't have the energy to stand in the kitchen preparing fresh veg. Exercise goes out the window and the resulting decline in fitness makes it tough to get back into it. After I recover I just don't go back to how it was before.
So the question is: how do I handle getting sick without it ruining my new routines and throwing me off track?

Hi I am Kat, I am seventeen and I started this school year at boarding school. Although it's not college, I have the same problems with living in dorms, going to the school's dining hall, and staying up late finishing work and studying. Luckily I haven't gained the "freshman 15" (like a good majority of my friends have), but I have gained some weight and would like to learn how to eat right in an environment with a wide variety of [mediocre] foods. Have you ever been to a buffet and decided to try a little of each, and before you knew it your plate is piled high? Imagine that for every meal every day! It's a slow learning process but I would love it if you would like to be my motivator. Just message me! : D Thanks

I was just sick last week and wondering the same thing! I felt so gross just sitting on my butt all day. Smoothies are great because they are easy to prepare in the blender and you can just feeeeeel all the good nutrients coursing through your sick body. Also, that thick and cold consistency feels really good on your sore throat. As far as exercise? Pilates, maybe?

I'm a 23 year old FFB (former fat boy). I'm a grad student at the Univ. of Phoenix. I was married on June 1st, 2007 by a wonderful supportive woman.
I have always been the fat kid so now I've changed that. I started at 305. I lost 80 pounds and was at 225 after I was sick. From Jan 07 to Apr 07, I put on 25 pounds. I then started to lose weight again, but started doing it the right way. I am now 235 and leaner than I was at 225. I'm going to see how close I can get to a 6 pack, but eventually I'll start trying to put on some muscle. Then lean out again.
Six-Pack would be awesome, I've never had one of those. So we'll see. (my photo is me at 305lbs. when i get a good pic of me now at my current weight, i'll post it)

up your vitamin C and zinc, try and get some extra glutamine (it's an amino acid, supports the immune system, comes in meats and things, but sometimes you need extra, check your local sports nutrition store), and think healthy thoughts

Must get back down to me fightin' weight, darned stoopid holidays and their tasty treats...
Fer reel: A couple years ago I dropped from 200 to 120, and since I've been "maintaining" ... which has turned into a slight, slow gain. School leaves me with an excuse to not work out, and that has lead to my weight creeping up. After 20 pounds I fought hard to get off the first time I'm saying no more and working my fat bum back down into the 120s where it belongs.
I prefer lifting heavy but I've learned to not hate "cardio" and have even taken up running... sorta.
Of course, my fave pastimes are usually sedentary, my art, gaming, etc... But I can get over that.

When you're sick, your body is busy fighting and repairing, and many times exercise only makes things worse, as now you're asking your body to repair that too.
What I do when I'm sick (haha, I typoed sick as suck, and it sums of my feelings exactly) I go ahead and eat maintenance (or try, usually I don't eat enough, for lack of appetite and fear of puking) and try to keep it relatively clean. I let myself have juice (normally I don't), get lots of cans of soup (low cal, easy on stomach, I don't need to worry about sodium) and drink whatever I can (usually flavored water, because normal water is nasty when I'm sick).
As I start to get better, I take a couple minutes and either go for a slow walk or hop on the elliptical for a slow bit. Mainly, this is to work the gunk out of the lymph nodes, since your lymphatic system can't circulate itself. I do it as soon as I can, without getting myself into trouble and falling off. Before I can do that I usually massage all my nodes once or twice a day. I chill, make decent choices on what kind of icecream, pudding (protein pudding is awesome here), jello, etc I eat. I don't make many "bad" choices, but certainly I'm not being overly hard on myself.
As I feel better I do more as my body allows.
Protein pudding:
1.5-2 cups low/no fat milk
1/2 packet sugar free instant pudding
2 scoops protein powder
deelish!
