I'm just an average guy who wants to live a healthy lifestyle and lose a few pounds along the way. My goal is to weigh at 200 lbs and maintain that weight (with my build i can't go under !). Traineo is a great place if you're motivated and i am.

hi everybody,
So i'm at work like every other day and that colleague comes to me and say: " you lost weight right, you look different ", i was SO surprised. The thing is i haven't lost that much weight just 9 lbs as of today but i feel slimmer and fitter anyways I know it's just one comment but it goes a long way, right after i felt so good and energized and let me tell you motivationwise it's incredible.
ok that was my story for the day, has it ever happened to you ?

Well here I am. About 2 years ago I did the impossible. I worked my way from 260lbs to 180 lbs. It took me about 9 months and I was esctatic. I couldn't believe it. But the esctacy did not last. As soon as I hit my goal (that very day) I began to slide.. until the day I logged onto Traineo for the first time. I was 275lbs. I have 2 goals now. I want to reach 180lbs by the end of 2008. And learn about my self destructiveness so I can prevent the slide-back again. I'd love to encourage others along the way, and have others encourage me.

Yeah, and its probably my number one motivator. Having people say "Hye.. you've lost weight". I know that I should be doing this for "me"... but it just helps to have others notice your hard work. Keep it up!

I am 29 years old and have grown passionate about fitness and health! Overall, I have lost and kept off a little over 40 pounds, and I have about 20 or so more that I would like to take off. This last year has been tough and distracting in many ways, and I am back to work now! I am revisiting Traineo, because this site and the people here were instrumental in helping me lose my original 40 pounds so I am back! I regret that because of time constraints I won't be able to be AS active in the forums as I used to, but I will certainly try to stay in there and reconnect with old friend as well as make new ones.
My fitness goals remain the same as before as I haven't achieved them yet: *GOAL 1 = 140 lbs Target Date = 7/31/08 Date Met = TBD CURRENT FITNESS GOALS: Run a 5K, improve flexibility enough to do the splits, be able to do 50 pushups in a row, be able to do a pull-up, learn to do a hand stand and then hand stand pushups. :)

Sebastian,
That happened to me the other day...well kinda. I have lost about 15 pounds since I started my journey. Well, in that same time period, my husband has put on about 15. A friend saw us both the other day and said that we both look like we had lost weight. The quote was: "Jennie you look great, but Larry, you look like you have lost a TON!".
We both laughed because of the fact that he had not lost anything but in fact had gained, and I had been working my butt off to get where I am. It still was a good motivator for me though. It is always good to hear that stuff.

I'm a 23 year old FFB (former fat boy). I'm a grad student at the Univ. of Phoenix. I was married on June 1st, 2007 by a wonderful supportive woman.
I have always been the fat kid so now I've changed that. I started at 305. I lost 80 pounds and was at 225 after I was sick. From Jan 07 to Apr 07, I put on 25 pounds. I then started to lose weight again, but started doing it the right way. I am now 235 and leaner than I was at 225. I'm going to see how close I can get to a 6 pack, but eventually I'll start trying to put on some muscle. Then lean out again.
Six-Pack would be awesome, I've never had one of those. So we'll see. (my photo is me at 305lbs. when i get a good pic of me now at my current weight, i'll post it)

You're still doing it for you; you're allowed to enjoy a compliment, just say thanks and smile!
I've stopped getting compliments...I lost 75 lbs. and got compliemts throughout, now they're all pissed because I've always been told "your family's big, you'll always be big," I have to try and avoid the subject now.

I got comments for a while from co-workers, gym trainers, and gym goers on my progress. Apart from my gym buddy, they have always been from guys which I kid about (but am flattered by nonetheless).
They got used to it after a while, and I don't get those comments anymore.
My wife has been consistent in her comments though -- she says I'm fat. Then again, by her standards (Japanese) I guess I am.

A skinny rail -- that's what I was most of my youth. I felt great and had energy to spare.
But in my mid-20's I started to gradually gain weight. Now I'm around 50 lbs. overweight and have been for 10 years. I'd like to be around to see my grandkids someday. Time for a change!

Hi! I am in charge of Marketing and Promotions at traineo and I feel very fortunate to be a part of a team that is dedicated to helping a large number of people reach their health and fitness goals.
Health and fitness has always played a large part of my life. Growing up, I played tennis, basketball, and ran. In college, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to represent my college in two disciplines - track/cross country as well as basketball. Currently I am still running competitively for a local track club and enjoying every minute of it.
I am always interested in meeting new people so feel free to send me a message. I am also continually looking for new ways to promote traineo and would love to hear from you if you have specific suggestions. Have a great day.

That's great Sebastian. Keep up the good work. Keep working out for yourself and not other's opinions about you - if you follow this, I'm sure you'll succeed if you put your mind to it - as you have done.

I was gone for awhile, but I'm back and ready to lose the 20 pounds I managed to gain back while I was away. Stupid stressful job. Stupid comfort food.
I'm looking to lose 10 of the 20 by the time I go on my much delayed honeymoon. (June 7th, 2008)
Some background... January 16th, 2006=188 pounds. January 16th, 2007=162 pounds. January 16th, 2008=156 pounds.

Yep...what everyone else said! Great job!
Last week, someone at work called me "skinny". Me? Skinny? In like...the same sentence? I nearly fell over dead.
Today, a different person at work told me that I looked great and said that I was insane for thinking I need to lose another 20-30 pounds.
And then a third person (who was standing next to person number 2) said that I'd look tiny if I lost that much weight.
New goal? Jessie=tiny...a healthy tiny. Muscular tiny. Fit and trim. Because "skinny" isn't just good enough.

I am 34 years old, married and a father of a 2.5 year old. They are the motivators for me to reach my goal. I started the new journey on 8/21/06 @307 lbs and as of June '08, I have lost around 108 lbs. I have been able to keep 100 lb weight loss since Sept. '07. What keeps me on track is the Traineo community, vision of a healthy and fit future and the mini-goals below. *GOAL 1 = 244 lbs, Date = 2/15/07 Date Met = 2/7/07 *GOAL 2 = 229 lbs, Date = 3/22/07 Date Met = 3/30/07 ________________________ *GOAL 3 = 199 lbs, Date = 6/30/08 Date Met = 6/5/08 *GOAL 4 = 185 lbs, Date = 09/30/08 Date Met = TBD (185 is my "ultimate" goal. Then build muscle.)
Hobbies/Interests: Baseball, White Sox, bowling, WII, Xbox 360, PSP, XM, Opie and Anthony radio show, Ron and Fez radio show, variety of music, working out, running.
Personal Records: 5K - 26:18 (4/14/08-8:29/mile pace) 10K- 54:56-9/16/07-(8:43/mile pace) 10 Mile Run - CXLD due to injury Marathon - 10/12/08
Advice: - Set a Deadline: "A goal is a dream with a deadline - Napolean Hill." - Set Mini Goals - They help you accomplish small milestones on your way to the "ultimate" goal. - Track your progress. - Plan everything out. Daily workout routines, meals, etc. - Be patient. Your goals will eventually be met, if you work hard.

Congrats Sebastian!
Over the last couple of weeks, I have actually gotten a few comments from some co-workers. I usually thank them, tell them that I have a LOT more to lose and then I move on.
I think I am a bit more cautious about the comments this time around because in the past those type of comments, for some reason, unmotivated me. The comments for some reason satisfied me and I stoopped trying to lose more or continue my journey. I know this is weird, but it is just one of those mental things I am working through to make sure I KEEP this new weight loss off the rest of my life.

Okay, on to diet number 5! This month: Neanderthin.
Previous loses are as follows: January, G I Lean ( 4.3kgs ); February, The Hacker's Diet ( 4.5kgs ); March, Johnson UpDayDownDay Diet ( 2.1kgs ); April, YOU: On A Diet ( 700g).
It seems all these diet switches are working. It appeals to my desire for novelty and means I can try diets I never would consider for the long-term. That, and I get to play around collecting data in spreadsheets - always a good thing if you need some work avoidance. Honestly, this is quite fun.

Well done Sebastian!
Does anyone else have the opposite problem? I'm just not an attention seeker, and I feel rather put on the spot when people notice I've lost weight ( I know it's not good, I'm working on it ) - compliments make me uncomfortable ( which makes me want to start eating rubbish again, this has been my downfall on countless diets ). What do I do?

@Chereen: It's an odd thing in our society that it's considered completely proper to broach the subject of ones weight, which is extremely personal and a sore spot for many, both heavy and not. It's judgmental, in a way, although all of those people who say something are really just trying to be supportive.
The other day a few people at work said I looked like I had lost weight. I've lost weight since I started my journey to being more healthy last February, but in the past few months I've been pretty stagnant, bouncing between 3 or 4 very stubborn pounds that just won't drop (with 40 left to go to my goal). It was a little deflating, but instead of letting it get to me, I just responded "yes" and beamed a smile "thanks for noticing!"
Try to think of it more like they're telling you "nice sweater your wearing" than a comment on the person you are. These people are not judging you, but really just trying to be polite in what could be considered a warped and misguided way. In their minds, they are being nice. Know that you are a beautiful person and the shape of your body is beautiful, no matter what the scale says. Please try to let their comments bounce off you, and take them for what they are: not judgments, but encouragment.
Don't lose heart! Good luck with your goals!

My fitness regimen includes stationary cycling, light weight training and lots of walking around NYC. I'm a graduate of WeightWatchers and an enthusiastic advocate of its balanced approach to weight loss. I'm sure that I drink too much coffee and get too little sleep. :)
My goals are to maintain my weight in a healthy BMI/BF % range and forestall the toll of advancing age. :)
I think Traineo's established a great community and appreciate the support and information we share.

I get "you don't need to lose anymore weight" a lot.
But I told them that they are just used to looking at fat people and don't know what an ideal person (physically) should look like. They laughed.
Good job everyone!
Sebastian, keep it up!
Chereen, don't worry about it, when you reach your goal and it is normal to them that you are thinner, they'll stop "putting you on the spot."

@Nathan:
I feel your pain.
I explained BMI to person 2 and 3 yesterday and they laughed at me.
I told them that when I started this lifestyle change I was "obese", that currently I am "overweight" and my goal is to be in the "normal healthy" range. They laughed! I couldn't believe it. Sometimes I wish everyone at work was living like me.

Jessie,
My co-worker's think they are. "I only ate fast food three times this week."
Or "I went walking for 30 mins the other day."
Me: "Oh really? do you go everyday?"
Them: "No i'v gone once, but I'm going to try to go more."
ME: "Good for you!"
3 weeks later;
Me: "How's your walking?"
Them: "Oh I never went again."
Or, "I cna't exercise cuz I have trouble breathing." DUH!
Or, "My back hurts when I exercise."
Me: "Of course it does the muscles are weak there and you never use them, so of course they hurt."
Them: "I was in good shape when I was in college."
Me: "That was 40 years ago." DUH!
Even my mom. Her and another lady here at work have been splitting their meals. So eating halfof what they normally eat. Sounds good right. They still eat fast food like 4 days a week. (half a meal) and they split snacks (too much fruit, too high in sugar). They've lost some weight, but as they go they keep adding halves of foods to their meals. Now they each have half of a soup (too much sodium), add a yogurt each (240 calories), and to wonder why they stopped lsing weight. So my mom now acts like she is eating healthy, don't listen to the guy who has lost 75 lbs.
