I am 34 years old, married and a father of a 2.5 year old. They are the motivators for me to reach my goal. I started the new journey on 8/21/06 @307 lbs and as of June '08, I have lost around 108 lbs. I have been able to keep 100 lb weight loss since Sept. '07. What keeps me on track is the Traineo community, vision of a healthy and fit future and the mini-goals below. *GOAL 1 = 244 lbs, Date = 2/15/07 Date Met = 2/7/07 *GOAL 2 = 229 lbs, Date = 3/22/07 Date Met = 3/30/07 ________________________ *GOAL 3 = 199 lbs, Date = 6/30/08 Date Met = 6/5/08 *GOAL 4 = 185 lbs, Date = 09/30/08 Date Met = TBD (185 is my "ultimate" goal. Then build muscle.)
Hobbies/Interests: Baseball, White Sox, bowling, WII, Xbox 360, PSP, XM, Opie and Anthony radio show, Ron and Fez radio show, variety of music, working out, running.
Personal Records: 5K - 26:18 (4/14/08-8:29/mile pace) 10K- 54:56-9/16/07-(8:43/mile pace) 10 Mile Run - CXLD due to injury Marathon - 10/12/08
Advice: - Set a Deadline: "A goal is a dream with a deadline - Napolean Hill." - Set Mini Goals - They help you accomplish small milestones on your way to the "ultimate" goal. - Track your progress. - Plan everything out. Daily workout routines, meals, etc. - Be patient. Your goals will eventually be met, if you work hard.

Well, I got a Wii Fit for my wife and tricked her into liking it. She doesn't like computer games in general, so I set it up and innocently happened to be playing it when she walked into the room. I had her hooked in 5 minutes.
I've playfully taped her exercising to Yourself Fitness, but she'd murder me if I ever posted it online without her permission so I gather this guy had his gf's go ahead too.

I've been interested in losing weight and gaining muscle here at traineo since late 2007. Its not until mid 2008 that i've actually started my training routine 5 days a week. Trying to get to under 19% body fat.

Well itadaki, I should get you to post Wii Fit threads then since everytime I seem to make one I attract anti-fitness people (ha get it?). I mean anti-Wii-Fit people. It was a joke.
Clifford, this is once out of like 10 boards now. So 95% of the time you are.

Hula hooping action without that pesky hoola hoop getting in the visual space of the hip action. God bless technology.

Speaking of bashing Wii Fit, this is a great parody of the original Wii Fit ad.
I liked the bit about the Hula Hoop game best -- why pay $3.95 for a piece of plastic when you can pay over $300 and play hula hoops without that annoying hoop?

Actually that's quite wrong in a way. For one, it's 90 dollars in the US (wii fit). so they should have said "why pay $3.95 for a peice of plastic when you can pay $90 and play hula hoops without that annoying hoop". Secondly, it *shoudlnt* even be worded that way because if they were to release a game that did just hula hoops it'd be alot cheaper, and he shouldnt have referenced it because wii fit includes the whole 'gym' set of things. As in exercise your arms, legs, back.... etc.
I would have said this. "Why pay $50 dollars an hour or more for a personal trainer, for one you can keep under the couch and work with anytime for only $90?"

I'm basically trying to get in shape and be healthy...
diaryofthefatman.blogspot.com
I like participating in sports but I want to be more competitive. Also I'm with Kevin Spacey from American Beauty - good reason :)
I'm looking to lose about a hundred lbs in the course of a year, and basically to just consistently get better. And I love comments and messages, so keep 'em coming!
I talk about goal setting a lot, how about I actually set some?
Well it's time to revisit goals... I didn't do too well with my end of year plans, but learned some things and changed my plans up a bit as I went along. During the 5-7 weeks of the year, I was able to put on about 8-10lbs of muscle, and stay at the same actual weight. The plan is to start the Strong Lifts 5X5 program to supplement the Couch to 5K program, and that should last the next 8-12 weeks.
I'm updating goals as well. Lowering cholesterol remains a goal, and I'll find out about that at the end of August.
Been bouncing around a bit, but getting a little stricter again and will monitor that over the next 3-4 weeks. I feel poised to really lose some weight again, so I'm looking forward to the healthy eating and additional exercise.

I find the Wii Fit bashing amusing in the same way I find iPhone bashing amusing. I just take it all in good fun, but I remain pretty happy with my iPhone and Wii Fit. I've also seen bashers who finally bought a Wii or iPhone and became fan boys overnight -- anyway no skin off my back if folks don't like it.
I still run 5k 3x a week, and once my wrist heals up I'll be back to my 5x5 as well. Wii Fit comes in handy though -- yesterday would have been a loss if I didn't hop on the Wii at 11pm at night and crank out 40 minutes or exercise. No replacement for my regular stuff, but it was better than nothing and it kept me moving and motivated.

I'll be 100% honest, for me bashing anything that has fanboys is more about antagonizing them for their reactions than any genuine dislike of a product. There's really only one important thing that drives most of what I do, and that is entertaining myself, and few things are more entertaining to me than rampant, blind fanboy-ism. More than once I've played the devil's advocate against the PS3 and/or the 360 just because the other side was SO RIDICULOUSLY PASSIONATE about which was better (my goal: to recreate the "trilogy" scene from Clerks 2 with an unwitting fanboy).
In my defense though, I try to at least be a little witty in my responses... I haven't resorted to a "ur stupid, u sux" retort yet. Plus, if the product were failing or if Nintendo was on the verge of bankruptcy I probably wouldn't bother voicing a dissenting opinon... where's the fun in kicking someone while they're down?
If anything, I am completely disinterested in the Wii Fit as a product but, again, I would happily admit I was 100% wrong about it if the world is suddenly in better shape because of that "white thing you stand on"... just don't blame me if I don't hold my breath that this will spark the fitness revolution we've all been waiting for.
Viva la revolucion!
