Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they haev to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary.
Impossible is NOTHING.

I missed my goal of a 25 minute run, but I finished my first 5k ever today at 27:57. Not bad, considering that prior to January I'd never tried running anything further than one and a half miles and my initial time for this run was in the 40 minute range. All and all, I'm proud to have finished it in under 30 minutes, but I had too much juice left at the end, which tells me I didn't push hard enough during the run so, being the usual perfectionist that I am, I know I could have done better and, next time, I will! Save nothing for the walk back to the car!
As far as todays run, it was a little cold today so I had trouble breathing initially (getting over a sinus infection and I'm not used to cold air in the lungs), and it's been too cold for me to be outside training (it actually snowed last weekend... in Seattle! That's not weather, it's BS!) for the past few weeks so I pretty much ran this after several weeks on a treadmill, but it felt good to get this one done. I've got another run on May 10th, and it's even earlier in the morning so I better get used to the outside running conditions quick! (Let's see if I can't get my 25 minute run then!)
No finish-line photos because my friend that was supposed to be on camera duty slept in; she was out until like 6am last night or something, heh.

I'm at student, working to get a Masters in Computer Science. I like to read, write, run, climb, and swim. Although I haven't climbed much recently. I'm currently training for a half marathon on Aug. 17th.

Congrats.
I seem to have a hard time pacing myself for runs, in the sense that I always run way to slowly and always feel like I could keep going when I finish.
It's hard to figure out how hard to push yourself so that you don't finish feeling like you could run it again, but also so you don't bomb after the first half.
Good luck on the next one, and let us know how your time improves.

I'm a dancer, just now learning how to take better care of my body! I'm also a foodie and an advertising professional - not sure which of the three I like best. I like snowboarding, calico kittens, collecting badass hoodies and sneakers, poker, crude humor, the fine arts, and colorful socks.

I am a student in university so we all know what that means....
The freshmen 15 increased to 50, but that was over 4 years. I finally made it to the gym at the end of September and haven't looked back.
23 pounds down, 27 to go.

I have been working out regularly since Sept 07. I've been here several times in the past BUT this time the change is going to last a LIFETIME!!
I am the mother of a ten year old competitive figure skater (which takes alot of my time). I work fulltime and my hubbie works away. Time is a challenge!!!
I would like to lose 20lbs by July 1.
I resolve to: Short term (by June 1, 2008): 1. Get back on track after my vacation in Cuba (April 7 - 16, 2008) 2. cardio 5x/week including trying to get back to running if my achillis tendon will ever heal! 3. weight train 3-4 x per week 4. Drink 64 oz water per day (this will be the biggest challenge!) 5. Obtain a Normal BMI (154 lb)!
Midterm Goals (by July 1, 2008): 1. Continue with short term 2. Try to increase mileage to run a 10 km race around Canada Day (July 1, 2008) 3. Try to find a 10 km race to run between June 15 - July 15, 2008 4. Obtain goal weight (currently set at 150 lb but maybe 144 lb) - BMI around 23 5. Continue weight training
Long term (By March 31, 2009): 1. To still be at this in 12 months time (the exercise and health habits not the weight loss part!) 2. To maintain a BMI of around 23! 3. To run a half marathon...if all works out...Myrtle Beach Half Marathon Feb 2009

Wow that is great! The first run takes alot of getting used to race conditions as well. Great time for going from treadmill to road race!
My problem is starting off too fast...I get caught up with the crowd and forget all about my training and sprint the first portion and then fade half way through.
We have to come to a happy medium...start out just fast enough while having enough to make it to the end with nothing left over!

Check on my progress at http://www.garbagethatgoo.com!
It's not my first time losing weight, but I feel committed to making it the last time. I mean to reach goal and stay there!
