I followed a modified version of the Jeff Galloway Half Marathon Training - the one "to finish"

Here is a link to my training log - this is what I actually did.

You will do fine, just give your body time to strengthen and you will do fine. Don't rush it or you will get hurt and discouraged. I know - I did that back in July and paid...

Reply by Jeff Bristow

Tim,

What was your training routine like a few months before you did the Half Marathon?

I have been doing high incline (a grade of 15) walking (speed of 3- 3.5) on the treadmill mostly, and last night I attempted my first real jog on the treadmill to see how it would go. It was rougher than I anticipated. I was barely able to squeeze out 3 miles in 45 minutes. So I have some serious work ahead of me, but I am curious about how you trained and got your body ready for the half marathon....

Reply by Tim Wilson

Quoting: spykeI can only hope mine will be HALF that great!

Rachael - I am signing up for a Master's swim program in my area this week, so that is another step towards getting that sprint tri done!! I'm, or course, no where near 16mi combined yet though...

Not at all, the half marathon is actually 13 miles so your tri is a considerable distance.

That said, it is still a great time that Tim managed for his first effort! Sweet indeed!!

I've been motivated to look into 1/2 marathons now, and have found one in July, with a training program at the local RunningRoom starting in April. If things continue to go well, I think I will aim for that.

It's so weird when you're driving along and you think about how far someplace is from your house/work/whatever and realize that you've been able to run that distance.
