Hi, I'm new to the gym (New Year's resolution!) and joined Traineo for some support and advice!

Luckily I have access to a lovely athletic facility at my college, and i figured the new year was a great time to start using it!

I am looking to lose weight in my thighs and give my butt a little more lift/firmness. I have been using the elliptical for about 35 minutes each day. Running on the treadmill is hard on my knees and back due to years of horseback riding. I'd also like to start taking some fitness classes as well, but I'm not sure which classes to take!

Here's a list of what's available...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Good job with the elliptical machine, keep that up.

Start doing some sort of resistance training to tone up. Don't use those little pink bunny weights either. Move some real weight.

You won't get big like a man, by using real weights, you don't have the testosterone, and since you are trying to lose, then you won't be eating to get big.

I know where I went to school they offered personal training (from physical education majors) at a very discounted rate. Get with a trainer for a few weeks, and then use the information you get from that to create your own workout and keep going.

Do your research. There is a lot to read on the interwebs, you can get a lot of info out there.

Good Luck!
