I had my best workout in months tonight. I strained my Achilles tendon in September, and I've been taking things carefully since then to avoid reinjury. It's finally getting back to normal, and I was feeling energetic, so I really kicked my butt in water aerobics tonight. My arms, legs, shoulders, abs, and butt are already a little sore, and I feel very pleasantly tired.
It's good to be able to cut loose again.

My weight has gone up and down repeatedly in the last few years. I managed to lose a lot of weight before getting married 2 years ago, but have since gained most of it back.
I hope to find new motivation on this site, and hopefully make some new friends. This time I want to lose weight and keep it off. I'm trying to not think of it as a diet, but as a change in lifestyle.

That's great news Heather. You describe the feeling of being "pleasantly tired" - that's a good way of putting it. I love that feeling.
Keep up the great work!

You star.
Are there exercises to build muscle support for the Achilles?
Again, you star.

I'm a 23 year old FFB (former fat boy). I'm a grad student at the Univ. of Phoenix. I was married on June 1st, 2007 by a wonderful supportive woman.
I have always been the fat kid so now I've changed that. I started at 305. I lost 80 pounds and was at 225 after I was sick. From Jan 07 to Apr 07, I put on 25 pounds. I then started to lose weight again, but started doing it the right way. I am now 235 and leaner than I was at 225. I'm going to see how close I can get to a 6 pack, but eventually I'll start trying to put on some muscle. Then lean out again.
Six-Pack would be awesome, I've never had one of those. So we'll see. (my photo is me at 305lbs. when i get a good pic of me now at my current weight, i'll post it)

Nathan is not actually referring to an avatar that I may or may not be currently using. What he's actually saying is that Heather is the hotness even when she's wearing a green bubble suit.

I've been dealing with Achilles tendonitis on and off for a while...I've found lots of calf and hamstring stretching combined with 'eccentric calf strengthening' exercises have helped a lot...nearly back on track now!
Here's a very interesting article about eccentric calf strengthening techniques - Achilles Rehab
I'd be interested in hearing about anyone else who's dealing with the same injury and what they're doing to help.

@Everyone,
Thanks for the support.
I got my hair cut today, so Green Bubble Lady's days are numbered.
@Alasdair,
Thanks for the article on strengthening the Achilles tendon. I've added it to my morning ab routine (which includes some other exercises that aren't for the abs, but it's mostly ab exercises).
My "ab" routine includes another exercise for strengthening the ankles. I do it after my crunches, so I'm lying on my back with my knees up. I put one calf on the other knee, and do 10 point-flexes and ten ankle circles in each direction. The ankle circles haved helped me restore mobility in the joint and full range of motion after previous ankle injuries (a long time ago now).
I had another *great* workout tonight. Water aerobics really gives me a good whole-body workout -- it uses muscles that don't get used in weight training.
