Taken two months out the game and it's time to get back on the fitness wagon. Hoping to follow through this time and obtain long lasting results.

Hey there.
My parents recently bought a powerplate. For people who don't know what that is it's basically a machine which you can perform exercises on while a plate below you vibrates at different frequencies stimulating your muscles.
Just wondering if anyone out there uses them or has any good experiences with them. Been using mine for about two/three weeks now and it seems to do good. Good to mix it up from cardio and weights.

There is one of them at the gym I go to.... but I just use it sometimes for stretching before/after a work out.
No one seems to ever go on it!
I believe that you can also use them for Strength building too???

I've been active my entire life. From growing up playing soccer, rowing in college, and seriously lifting since high school, I am not mystified over the exceedingly simple relationship between strenuous exercise and eating a sensible diet, and being fit.
Current stats:
Immersing myself into full-blown German Volume Training.

Stick to the real deal and ditch the gadget. If you're remotely serious about weight lifting, you wouldn't dare consider anything outside the realm of free-weights and compound movements.

Hahaha dude you wasted your money. This is by far the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Toss that thing away and get some weights and protein.

They also lift weights...seriously, return that and get a Bowflex or anything, that thing won't help you.

Only cost 1000 pounds. Christ, with that much money I could buy a squat rack, a bench, 500lbs worth of olympic weights, and actually...ya know...exercise.
Nice purchase, can I sell you some tiger repellent?

Ha you guys are obviously weight lifting pros. ahem. It definitely does something. It's more core stability and posture work. Like I said. I do weight training also along with cardio and have my protein shakes too. And yes they are miles more effective and i don't get worked up doing the plate. Tiger Repellent? Sign me up! Ha. Didn't realise I'd get flamed for this! Was merely wondering if anyone uses them and thats all. Teach me to keep my mouth shut. Weights and shakes from now on I guess.

Hey Alexander... ignore them t*ssers for takin the piss!!! (sorry guys but you did!)
If you are doing weights, cardio and the power plate too, then you can probably benefit a lot if you read up on how to use it properly....
You've done me a favour cause Ive read up on what its for, and research shows that using it with weights and cardio has great benefits!
So keep it up! I'll certainly be using it more whilst I am at the gym now!

The problem is that it costs a shitload for a vibrating surface. I'm sure you could get the same amount of distorted tension throughout the body by standing on one of those half pilate balls. No we probably aren't weight lifting pros, but I think the consensus is clear.

Cheers Amanda. Your right. I've done my research and haven't found anywhere which says it is detrimental in anyway or not clinically proven to help fitness.

Hi ! I use the powerplates at my gym. Personally I found using them very good for toning up. I noticed a difference within a couple of weeks.
Tricep dips and the plank on the powerplates are not for the faint of heart!! Wobbly arms every time!
