I want to start putting some kickboxing in my exercise routine but am finding i am having a hard time finding any kickboxing dvd's.
there aren't any classes here where i live even if i could afford them.
right now i am doing walk and kick which is power marching with simple kickboxing moves thrown in. i went to amazon marketplace and got kickboxing for dummies for cheap too but want something more.
I used to love tae bo but i am finding from reviews that the newer ones aren't that good especially for those of us starting out or restarting and the old ones i used to do are not available on dvd anymore. unfortunately my vhs tape has gone to that VCR in the sky so i can't use that one. i also have turbo jam for later when my body can keep up with the others on the dvd.
Does anybody have suggestions about what i can use dvd wise to start a kickboxing workout routine? If you've done it, what worked for you ?
Has anybody used the gilad:elite forces fat burning workout? is it extremely difficult? any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you.

You can't do better than actually attending a class. I love my martial arts class and they are very accepting of all ages and abilities. I'm highly motivated to go to my small class because I'm missed if I don't go, sometimes people even call to see if i'm sick. I hope you can find a good class to go to, and good people to sweat with!

What they have available here is way way too expensive and from what i hear a waste of the money you do spend. there are no kickboxing or anything resembling kickboxing classes here which is why i am looking for dvd's. i've already looked into any martial arts classes and the cost is just too much and the treaching you recieve for that load of cash is half hearted at best. Also going anyplace is a huge difficulty for me.

ya i have been looking at some of his stuff but what i have found so far is really complicated for a beginner i think he forgot that some people are just starting out and they haven't done the prior tae bo that has explantions of the moves and also is no longer available. the stuff i found on youtube is way to complicated for me to start.... except for the postnatal workout his daughter teaches. i am seriously considering getting that one because it looks like it shows some core moves but doesn't go so fast your going "what was that, what did they do!?" who cares if it's supposed to be postnatal, it's still a workout.
still if there are any other dvd's or if anybody knows any of the tae- bo dvd's that have a clear explanation of the moves and doesn't move so fast all you see is a blur that would be great.

I figure it will give me the start up training to do billys faster more complicated dvd's later on. i really like tae bo and kickboxing it's something that i can do and not think " i hate this make it end NOW".
that's why it bothers me i am still too slow to do the turbo jam. i tried twice and it just goes too fast for my hefty body to keep up with everyone else.

I don't think it has anything to do with your "hefty body." Any time I've tried a video workout I'm always so surprised how fast they zip from one move to the next, and I'm still trying to figure out the coordination between my arms and legs. I sometimes wish they'd just pause and go, okay, here's the step I'm trying to do at about 1/8 of the speed.
It's not a bad idea to keep trying, because you'll start to learn the moves. Or even watch them do the move a few times, and then stop the video and try to do the move yourself. You can use the videos to teach yourself the different moves this way.
Then again, I have no coordination between my arms and legs, which is why I don't dance. :P
For any Bones watchers "I'm told I look like a marionette in a windstorm." I'm pretty sure I look like that too when I attempt to dance.

Neesha has a point. Any time I do a new (or one that I haven't done in a while) work out DVD or choreographed class, I usually have to watch them do the move a couple of times before I get it - sometimes they've moved on before I understand - on the Cardio Party one they are especially bad about that. I find myself going "uh, what did they just do...?"
